AssBurns 2000 Limited Build Thread

The BeerRunner build thread. Here is what is going to start as my build thread for my 2000 Limited 4Runner. Nicknamed the BeerRunner. It had 160,000 miles and bone stock with the optional rear E-Locker when I bought it last December. My plan is to just lift, bumpers, sliders, skids, wheels and lights and some other simple things for now. I'll be using this as a daily driver, camping vehicle, fire road cruiser and mild rock crawler.

I will try to keep this thread up to date as I get some big updates, but I will be spending majority of my forum time over at independentoffroading.com you can keep up with the build progress more over there.

Checking out if the sway bars made any difference and it helps flex a little bit both in the front and rear. Leaving the rear off was just too sloppy on the road so I keep the rear on and just disconnect the links and hang them up when I go offroading. I never put the front back on after I removed it. It doesn't make that big of a difference on the roads.

No sway bars

Finally got new tires. They are 285/75R16 Pro Comp Xtreme MT2's. They barely fit with stock suspension. A little bit of turning or just backing out of the driveway rubbed the shit out of the pinch weld but an angle grinder and a BFH solved that. Had to cut the pinch weld and the wheel well a bit then hammer the shit out of everything else. Now the only thing that rubs is the frame at full lock or when the suspension is fully flexed offroading but very minimal. Plan on lifting and cutting some more soon but I've been lazy.

Also got the rear coils off an FJ80 for $40 so there is a start to my lift. Planning on Bilstein 5100's for a Tundra, Toytec/Eibach Front Coils and no body lift.

Looks good! Just be careful with your bigger tires and disconnected rear sway bar. If you flex too much you could ruin your body or maybe bottom out your shock haha.

My family got me a CB radio for my birthday and I got it installed over the weekend. I got a Uniden 510xl CB radio, 4ft Firestik, 18ft Coax cable, antenna mount and spring, and two 90 degree adapters for the cable. I built an antenna mount and mounted the radio in the ashtray slot in my dash. It all turned out pretty well. I'm still waiting on the second 90 degree adapter and a SWR Meter to come in so I can get it tuned and finished.
I plan on building some rock sliders this weekend. I will try to take some pictures and post them when they are done. (if they get done)

Thanks SRQ-Runner! I tried to make it match the lines the best I could so it took a while to get it lined up perfectly

Started my rock sliders over the weekend and almost have them ready for paint. I haven't decided if I want to paint them a gloss black or a silver or gray color yet. What do you guys think?

Rock Sliders are done being welded and have the first few coats of paint on them. I'm hoping to get them welding on the truck tomorrow morning. Also just got my SWR meter today and went to tune my CB and it was way over 3:1. I'm pretty sure it's my ground but I'll check that out tomorrow morning. While I was out I got a couple flex shots

I vote LineX or Rhino liner myself. Even Herculiner if you feel like saving a dime, it will all need touch up. I love your runner

Finally got my sliders all finished up and mounted. I was a little worried about the sliders flexing with the vehicle weight on them so, I decided to use a hi-lift and jack it up by the sliders. I didn't notice any flex in the sliders with all that weight.
Also got my CB radio tuned. I had a bad ground because I painted my antenna mount and there was no metal on metal contact. I just cleaned up the holes for the bolts and the antenna. I got it down the about 1.3:1 and it seems like it picks up everything

We went to the Offroad Expo yesterday and I just got some tire deflators, a tow strap and some d-rings. After the expo we went camping at Thomas Hunting Grounds near Angelus Oaks with the family and some friends. I did a little bit of wheeling on the way back home and ended up getting stuck pretty bad. I got to use my new strap and d-rings unfortunately I went through a water crossing behind Seven Oaks Dam and it was really sandy. My tow package got hung up and I lost all traction in the rear so my front just dug right in. We tried to dig ourselves out with no luck. My dumbass went by myself and to a place with no cellular service. I had to walk back up the dirt road about a mile in the rain just to call my brother to come save me. It took him about 2 hours to get there. We had no food, water or beer to pass the time so I just took a nap.
Sad thing is my brother and my dad both have XJ's so they had to talk all kinds of crap about Toyotas after I got pulled out.
