You shouldn't need these with longer links.

I'd replace the top hats if the threads are chewed up. I replaced mine due to rust, and have to cut one of the studs off. Besides that there's no real reason to replace them.

On a side note. Did you ever purchase an CB Antenna mount? I thought you were looking for, and I finally got enough people to make them.

I think I can get everything for right around $1150 shipped vs $1450 shipped for the SS1.2. That would include the panhard bar, brake lines, bump stop extensions, diff drop, Tundra isolators, and everything their kit comes with essentially except for the sway bar brackets but I plan to get the longer links from @MStudt most likely so that shouldn't be an issue.

I've heard the Tundra coils support weight pretty well and ride nice too, and the LC coils are real flexy and ride smooth too.

Anyone know what exactly the "Sonoran Steel Fabrication L.L.C. Custom Polyurethane Top Plate Retainers" are? I think they're just a top plate spacer. If so I can pick up a set of those and have essentially the same exact kit for about $300 less. I can put that money towards UCA's or sway bar end links.

Also, is it recommended to replace the top hats? I've got 179k on the truck but I don't really know if these are wear items or not. If they should be replaced are aftermarket OK or are these like the LBJs where Toyota OEM is the only way to go?

Anyone see any issues with any of this?

My eyes are about to start bleeding I've read and researched so much about lifts...
Sounds like you're gonna have a perfect ride soon.

Have you put any thought into coilovers? I read some comparisons between coilovers and bilsteins, and people say it's like night and day difference, with preference to the coilovers. Don't know if you put any consideration into that, just thought I'd mention it.

As far as the top hats, when I replaced my suspension, I replaced mine with Moog top hats, more or less because I didn't have the tools to do the spring compression at home, so I had to drive to a shop to have that done. Otherwise, I've heard it's not necessary to replace the top hat.

Good to know. I shouldn't have rust issues and I don't think the threads are chewed up. I'll take a look at them quick though and see.

I never did get around to getting a mount. CB stuff got kinda pushed back for now, but I may get one if I go with the links to save on shipping. Do you have any plans for Black Friday sales? I think I remember you running some last year, but I can't remember...

I've thought about and looked at coilovers but they're a good bit more expensive. Nearly twice as much for the Toytec coilovers, and their ultimate coilovers are just the bilsteins with a threaded sleeve to allow easier adjustment. I'm hoping the Tundra/5100 set up will do everything I want but not break the bank at the same time.

I might do free shipping on items. Pretty sure that's what I did last year.

While there's always room for improvement, I've been very satisfied with my Tundra/5100 setup with 906s on the rear. Once I get a little bit more saved up I am planning on swapping the rears to superflexes, but it probably won't be until after the holidays and I get a little settled in the new job (maybe even get the old house sold... anyone moving to Valdosta, GA?).

My car has been a Georgia car it's whole life, and at 234k, the factory tophats were in great shape, so I reused them. On a side note, putting the front struts and coils together was a cakewalk (mounting them was a different story), but compressing the OEM springs was far and away the most time consuming pain in the ass of the whole project.

Good to hear. Sounds like I can just reuse my stock tophats then. I've got access to a wall mounted spring compressor for like $10 a use so I plan to use that. Slightly less scary...

I feel you on not wanting to break the bank. That set up will do you good, based on other people's reviews. Just wish I hadn't replaced stock suspension with stock equivalent and gone with that lift instead
Now I'm ballin' on a college budget

Just got back from dropping the skids off at the powdercoater. He said they should be done early next week. I went with semi gloss black, same color as my rack and sliders. Can't wait to get them on the truck!

Yeah I can understand ballin' on a college budget. I'm a student as well. The 4Runner is really my only hobby that consumes a lot of money so that helps, and having had a great paying job being self employed has helped too. Plus I have no plans to get rid of this truck. With only 179k she's got a lot of life left in her.

I'm still researching which rear coils I want to go with, LC or OME 891. I'm also looking into whether I want to do the adjustable panhard bar or go with the drop bracket and reuse the stock bar. That and if I need limiting straps if I go with aftermarket UCAs which I plan to. So much goes into this process, but I'd much rather do it once and do it right instead of 3 or 4 times and break stuff along the way...

Have you considered the Eibach front springs? They're cheaper than the TRD and to me they ride a little better on/off road. However I don't know if you want a 3" lift.

I haven't really looked into those. Sorta forgot they existed haha. I'll do a little research on them and see which I think will work best for me. Right now out of all the options I've read into I think the Tundra coils are best for me. Those Eibach ones may be too tall for me.

Today I flew a flag off the back of the 4Runner for Veterans day. Thanks to all who serve or have served!

I also called the powder coater today and he said the skids should be done Friday and ready for pick up!

I backed this kickstarter too for a set of recovery ramps. Looks like a good product at a great price. Check them out if you've looked into a set of recovery ramps before and are looking for a good deal.

I'm running the eibachs right now with tundra 5100's on the first perch with no front armour. It gave me about 2.5" of lift but the ride is real firm. I don't know if that's what your looking for or not but a lot of the time it can be almost jarring on potholes on the road. However when I'm offroad I love the firmness and how it soaks up a lot of the bumps

I backed for $179 Australian Dollars, or $126 USD. I backed for just the recovery ramps, I didn't really have a need for the mount.

Hmmm. I don't want a super firm jarring ride, but I'll also be running a little extra weight up front so that may help the ride out some to smooth it out.

I think you would like the TRD Tundra coils and adjustable Tundra Bilstien 5100s on perch 2

This is definitely a better idea especially if you want a more comfortable ride. I don't have experience with the TRD coils but I assume they are a lot more soft than the eibachs. But if you plan on doing a bumper and winch then I would go with the eibachs. They will ride perfectly after that
