1997 SR5 4x4 wont let my truck start

Hello everyone. Well I made a huge mistake today while checking on instrument panel fuses.

I manually shifted the 4x4 from 2Hi to 4HI without the truck being on or on manual. (I know I screwed up)

Now truck will not turn on at all, I had just turned it on right before I moved it into my driveway.

Check list:

Battery Good (used a jumper box and nothing)
Starter good(Just replaced it) I was able to use a jumper wire to start it from the relay.
Starter relay good
All this happen right after I made the mistake of engaging it while it was parked.

I checked once I get it started and try to go thru the 4x4 process the right way and run it and feel its 4x4 is engaged and when its not. indicator light works. And it still does the same thing.(Wont start)

I've experienced before on some 4runners when they are not fully engaged on 2hi it wont allow the truck to start. I'm just not having any luck getting it out of it or what's causing this to happen.

So anyone had this experience and how to get it back on right?

NO CEL light or anything.

Is your trans a manual or automatic? Sometimes on auto transmissions the neutral switch doesn't always engage and you have to wiggle the shifter to get the computer to sense that it's in park or neutral so it will start.

Yea. One for the trans being in neutral and one for when it's in park. It makes it so your engine won't start in gear.

Well. I'm driving it now to see if driving it helps any to disengage it from its current state.
You said there's a park sensor?

so I ran it and it runs great shifting in all gears no CEL.
Drove it on 4x4 light on and engaged and changed it to 2HI and it runs normal

drove it for about 3 miles

Turned it off when I got home and same result. NO START!!

I had something similar once when my brake fuse was blown. Check all you fuses and see if one is blown. There is a little override switch at the top of gear shifter, it's little and white in mine. That would let me start the car when the fuse was blown but whenever I would kill the engine it wouldn't start again unless I switched that switch. Problem went away once I found a blown fuse. This may have nothing to with your situation but your symptoms seem like what I had.

Don't drive in 4wheel mode on road. It's bad!! Also going in reverse sometimes helps the tcase get out of 4wheel mode. And being in neutral helps it engage and disengage. 4 wheel should be used on mud or dirt terrain, or snow. Unless you have the fancy AWD.

I only drove it half a block on 4wd. The back to 2HI and drove it. Still wouldn't start.

Not a fancy one.

Previous replied was the way I got it back.
