King Coilover Adjustment
Finally got my Kings installed up front but I am having a hell of a time adjusting them. I jacked from the crossmember to allow the suspension to droop and relieve the spring compression.
The problem is that the adjustment collar is directly in line with the UCA. In order to get clearance, I have to jack the suspension up and put a substantial load on the springs.
I know the Kings with remote reservoirs require removing them from the vehicle to adjust, but the standard 2.5" coilovers are supposed to be able to be adjusted on the vehicle. Who else with Kings has figured this out?

Get the spanner wrench in there anyway you can. Crank it. Will be tough. Feels like your literally trying to move your vehicle it can be that tough to move.

There is a small screw on the collar you have to loosen before it will rotate

I figured that would be the case. Can it be done with the springs under load or do they need to be at full droop?

I loosened it 1 turn, per the instructions from King.

Did this last weekend with my Sway Away's on the vehicle. I took the set screw out because after I loosened it a few turns, it was sticking out and in the way for the spanner wrench to sit flush. I put it back in after I adjusted the collar. Remember to use penetrating oil to help lubricate the threads. This will make it smoother and help to not damage the threads.
I also had my spindle disconnected from the LBJ, which helps take as much of the tension off of the coil as possible and make it easier to move the collar, and allows you to move the UCA/ spindle up or down to get it out of the way.

I know they say that they can be adjusted on the vehicle, but I couldn't do it. No matter how I tried, I couldn't get the right angle. I ended up unbolting my TC uca and then adjusting it. Much easier then trying to fight the angle.

I think Geoff is under the impression that I'm illiterate haha. Thanks for sharing the picture, but I have the exact same instructions from King, and I did read them all before installation. I had clearance issues not comprehension issues haha.
I was able to get them adjusted this afternoon. They can be adjusted while on the vehicle, but I had to disconnect my LBJ like Dezert4Runner said. I put a jack under the hub and got the whole spindle assembly out of the way, which provided plenty of room. After backing the set screw off 1 turn, the adjustment collar moved just fine with the help of some spray lubricant.
I did go too high in my attempt to get the front level with the rear, so I'll be dropping it back down tomorrow after work and ultimately lowering the rear to match the front. Hope this thread helps anybody who has the same issues I did. Thanks for the help, guys.

Well if you consider two years old to be a dead thread then you clearly haven't been here very long. But yes ... Revived!

I'll just leave this here. The more cross referenced info, the better.
What size hole punch to adjust King coilovers?
Good luck future peeps!
