Anyone replace a stud in a Spidertrax wheel spacer?

So I went to rotate my tires recently for the first time since the tire shop installed them. I had trouble getting one of the lug nuts off. After finally getting it off, it was obvious that the tire shop had cross threaded the lug nut on the stud of my Spidertrax wheel spacer. Both the threads on the stud and the lug nut were severely damaged.

So I purchased new lug nuts and a set of replacement studs from Spidertrax.

How difficult is it to press out the old stud and press in the new one? I don't have a press, so I was thinking about using my small benchtop vise, but not sure that would be strong enough. I emailed Spidertrax and they said its better to use a press so that the stud goes in straight.

Any good thoughts on how to get the old stud out, and press the new one in nice and straight? Or should I take it to a shop to have it pressed in?

I appreciate any advice.

Hammer the old one out and hammer the new one in. Take you longer to get the tools out than to do it. I used an air hammer on the bronco this weekend to knock the studs out and back in. 5 minutes for 10 studs.

No concerns with the stud not going in straight?

Nah. Lightly tap it in place, check for straightness, if it's straight then go to town. If it's not pop it out and try again. Studs are usually pretty self centering. Would be fairly difficult to drive it in crooked.

What you said, plus when the lug is tightened, itll pull the stud straight if its off slightly (not noticeable)

I think there are some groves on the stud and the hub/spacer (more like a slip-york). Make sure they line-up.

basically:

hammer out old stud
position in new stud, make sure the splines line up.
on the stud side put washers a lug and a bit of oil on the studs threads and the washers.
use an impact gun to pull it through, this will ensure that its straight as well.

This worked fantastic! Thanks so much!

Old stud hammered out (with new stud next to it):

(I noticed that the new stud has much shorter splines than the old one.)

The setup for the impact gun to pull the new stud through:

I didn't get an after pic, but everything is back together and I have 6 studs and lug nuts holding my wheel on again.
