Not bad for 15 yo Runner

Took the opportunity to work on my daughter's runner while she's home from college. After the new tires I went to check the oil, found a frayed alt belt. Changed all 3 out tuff job but not impossible. No doubt it would busted before getting back to school. Gave it a bath and I have to say for 15 yo it's great looking/running truck.

I agree. That is a good looking truck after all these years. My rig is also 15 (soon to be 16) years old. These machines wear like iron. They are reliable and even after so much time, they still have an "appeal" to them in their looks. Many of us have people comment on our 3rd Gen rigs because of their timeless and tasteful appearance.

One question: how long has it been since the water pump was changed out on your daughter's rig?

I was talking to someone the other day about my 2001. They know nothing about cars and told me that they figured my truck was no older and like a 2008. 3rd Gens are timeless.

Great looking runner! Mine is 18yo and people don't believe it has 335k on it, runs great and the shock/airbag addition finally freed mine from the tired rear sag look this past week.

It does look great! How many miles are on it? I suggest a rock/bug guard for the hood. The AVS brand is only around $40.

182k, might have to consider some kind of hood guard. Told her I may send her back with the Highlander, one word response, Nope.

I get that a lot, and some people say they thought it was a jeep.

Agreed. My colleague was driving in mine and she was shocked at the age. Only the lights on the front give you a clue about the age.

3rd gen's are well and alive. Just look at this thread for proof. 400 views in essentially 24 hours. Just goes to show how many people use this site and are in this section.

My baby is also 18. She will be 19 in June of 2016.

Like everyone has said here, this vehicle is simply timeless. It helps that they are so reliable on top of the good looks. How many people do you know who rock a 18 year old vehicle?

I like glass headlights way better anyway. My wife's Civic has the crappy plastic housing or whatever material it is.

I had a guy tell me "Nice Jeep" a few days ago. I didn't even know what to say. He may have been illiterate though, considering my grille says "TOYOTA" in huge letters...

I think that for some people, the brand name has become a description of the type of vehicle....they generically refer to all offroad vehicles as "jeeps".

for example, my wife's roommate in college was from Arkansas. Every soft drink of any kind was a "coke" to her. To us Coloradans, soft drinks are called "pop". My midwestern friends say "soda" and our southern friend would say "coke".
