Tru-cool vs B&M trans cooler quality?

Looking to do the radiator trans cooler bypass and am fixated on the 1.50 thick 4589 Tru-Cool or the 70264 B&M..

Which one has been proven to be better? Are the pressure/temp setups in each the same?

Just wondering what the long term prognosis of quality on each has been.

Most people on here, including myself, run with the B&M.

tru-cool 4589 and B&M 70266 are same size. I have owned both, and they are both manufactured by Long (Tru-Cool). The difference between the models I posted is that the Tru-Cool has cold temp bypass at that size and the B&M does not. The Tru-Cool also has welded nipples instead of threads where you have to install a fitting on the B&M. All that being said, I started with a B&M, it leaked at the fittings, so I got rid of it and bought the Tru-Cool. Never been happier with that decision.
Edit: the Tru-Cool brand has lifetime warranty, and B&M only offers 1yr. even though they are manufactured by Tru-Cool themselves.

Hayden 678 is same as TRD cooler, except less expensive. Another option.

Devil is in the details here. OP mentioned the B&M 70264 but you mentioned a different model B&M 70266. You are correct on B&M model 70266 not having a low temp bypass. However, the B&M 70264 that he mentioned actually does have a low temp bypass.

Not busting your balls — just wanted to clear that up though.

I went with the B & M 70264 because it has the low temp bypass. 👍🏼

I have the Tru-Cool 4490. It also has a better cooling capacity than a comparable B&M of the same size. It's the largest size and highest cooling for vehicles with rubber lines (not hard lines). I needed more cooling for my supercharger though, so that's why I went bigger (the PO burnt his last transmission to oblivion).

And it was cheaper.

Tru-cool vs B&M trans coolers?

I acquired a rx350 trans cooler for free. Decent size, easy to mount up front. Been running it for 2 years now, no issues. In Ohio, so no prolonged super hot or cold weather. Also supercharged

The B&M 70264 is 5-3/4" long and rated to 14,400 BTU. The TruCool 4589 is 8-1/2" long and rated to 21,000 BTU. They are both made by Long in Mexico just come in a different box. It's very hot here so I went with the bigger cooler.

This plus the fact Tru-Cool has the lifetime warranty and the welded nipples is tipping me towards the 4589 model.. Anything negative about it? Size going to create much of an issue?

Nope. Fits fine. You may have to remove some brackets and/or the horn as well though.

the 4589 is a tight fit, but it still fits without cutting or removing that middle core bracket like I noticed some have done. I just had to bend my horn mount a bit.

New to me 3rd gen. PO did bypass

Hey folks-- I've been searching high and low for an answer but haven't come across it.

Purchased an '01 SR5 with 173K back in January. Absolutely love this vehicle!

PO did a tranny cooler bypass. Did not plug nipples (whatever you call them) on radiator.

This AM I noticed quite a bit of fluid on the driveway. Leaking out of driver side nipple at bottom of tranny. (No nipple really--completely missing, just threaded hole).

Here's my question: is this the beginning of what would have been a milkshake?

It seems to me that I need to replace my radiator a coolant is leaking into what was the transmission cooler, right?

Thanks for the help
