Rock Sliders: 4X Innovations vs. Addicted Offroad

I'm going to put some sliders on my 2000 4Runner SR5. I've (pretty much) narrowed it down to:

1990 - 2013 Toyota 4Runner Off Road Rock Slider
or
68 Rock Sliders HD (1996-2002 4runner)

Does anyone have direct experience with either of these? I'm particularly interested in:
  • Build quality
  • Install-ready (in other words, do I need to fabricate anything to make these work)
  • General impressions, aesthetic and functionality
I am pretty handy, but I don't have a welding kit and no plans on making this my first foray into that world. So, I've gotten a quote of "about $170 a side if they are already fully welded and ready to go." Is that a good/reasonable price? And do these products appear to be "fully welded and ready to go"?

I had 4X sliders on my last truck. The legs need to be welded on to the sliders when you receive them, then onto the frame rails. They were great though, held up to plenty of rocks.

Why did you rule out Stubb's HD-SKO? Top notch build quality, fantastic customer service, and a 4-5 business day lead time. Can't beat it

Yeah, I also run the 4xInnovations sliders. I got them for one reason- price.

They're cheaper!

However, cheap means they're not assembled. Weld the legs to the slider, the plates to the legs, and then the whole thing onto the frame. It took a longgggg time.

$340 to weld on sliders is pretty steep.

I sprang for the DOM 4X sliders, and it cost me $300 to have them assembled, painted, and welded on. About $500 total for everything, but they paid for themselves the first time out wheeling with the amount of body damage they prevented.

I got the 4X DOM sliders as well. I had them assembled and welded on for $100, took the guy 2 hours tops. He had to cut one of the legs for the sliders. One of the legs for each side comes longer, in order to accommodate 2nd gen 4Runners.

Like others said, you have to weld the sliders to the legs, and the legs to the squares, then weld the entire thing to the frame. It sounds like a lot, but it all went very fast. They've saved my body panels after sliding around a tree (can't say that I didn't do it about 50% on purpose..just to test them)

I hadn't thought of Stubb's... even though now that I went the the site I remember looking at them like a year ago.

They're back in the mix.

Sounds like a key is going to be finding a reliable and affordable welder. I assumed I'd want to use a 4x4 shop since welding on the frame makes me a bit nervous.

I'm open to suggestions: Anyone know a good welder in Denver, CO?

I've always liked these from Savage.

I bought my sliders and skids from Corey @InSainFab . His work is top notch. He didn't charge me for installation and even with powder coating his price was lower than other fabricators. Let me know if you want to see some close up shots of my sliders. Checkout his page on the facebook.

I have the AOR sliders and they are beefy. The legs do not come welded to the sliders and mine did not come with any gussets or mount plates so had to source that elsewhere. The legs come pretty long so you choose how far out they sit and cut to length.

I have the Addicted Offroad sliders as well, I really like them... They did come with the angles pre cut on one side and the legs were long. I just welded scab plates to the frame and then welded to those. They work great I have abused the crap out of mine and then haven't flexed on me at all. I like the kick out at the rear too.

Keep in mind when comparing that our HD sliders are .188 wall main body and legs. Not .120 wall like most others.
