96 vs 97 ecu plug n play?

I have an ecu and engine harness on way from a 97 SR5 to replace in my 96 as I could not find a replacement harness for it.

The question is besides the harness plugging straight into the new ecu is there any modifications that are going to be necessary, due to, other plugs that maybe plugging into it from the original system?

Shouldnt be any problems , assuming you are auto and staying auto.

If I remember correctly the OP has a 5speed 96 and could not find an ecu and harness for the 96 and is going to use a 97 5speed ecu and harness. It can be made to work but the plugs might be different from the body side. OP needs to get the fsm wiring diagrams for both years and look at them side by side to see if there are any other changes

Were you able to get this to work? You didn't happen to have the four plug ECU did you? Bought someone else's project car (big mistake) and it doesn't have the five plug ECU for the same configuration (3.4L, 5spd manual, 4x4). Can't find the pin outs.
