Strut/shock upgrade

My front struts a gone on my 2000 4runner. I'm looking for anupgrade replacement- front and rear. I don't need any kind of lift, auto adjusting or off-road units, just a good replacement. Bilstein seems to be the top quality choice, but also the top price too. KYB is also at the top of the list. In either case I have no idea what to look for. I need some help boiling down all the choices. If I choose Bilstein or KYB what model should I look for? Also, are there any other quality struts I might want to look at?

Both are good shocks, i had the bilstein 4600s on my 02 and really liked them.

I have KYB on my 97 and don't like them. The ride is extremely harsh compared to my wife's 00 with OEM. I'd go Bilsteins OEM.

I'm about to sell my runner for a 99. So I'm waiting to spend the money on the new to me runner. I'll end up going with Old Man Emu or Bilsteins. A lot of the people here have great things to say about both of them.

Im seriously considering the Bilstein 4600's. I can get the complete set for $283.64 on Ebay. Anyone know of a better price?

I have KYB's on my 01 and bilstein 5100's on my 02. KYB's right excellent. I do not find them harsh at all but the 5100's are in fact a step up / no doubt. You can buy 5100's for about $350 shipped if you research.

Otherwise if you are on a tight budget, I am very pleased with KYB. Just my 2 cents.
