Dented 96-98 front chrome bumper and front limited flare. Aftermarket?

Someone backed into my chrome front bumper and scratched the baby front silver flare pretty bad.

My question is, has anyone used any of those OEM replacement chrome bumpers, and are they decent? I'm keeping my front setup the way it is, but just wondering.

And anyone have a silver pass side front flare or chrome bumper for 96-98?

The ones for older pickups and 4runners are OK, but not great, after 3-4 Years the inside is pretty much covered in rust, the outer chrome finish seems to hold up ok though.

I replaced my rear center piece with one off e-bay & it's still good after 2 years. It was only $90. I should have painted the inside to make it last longer.

I Found one at the wreckers only 3 dents but perfect chrome finish. I plan on sealing the back.

Aftermarket quality is okay. The OEM chrome bumpers are much nicer in terms of fit and finish.

So you've seen both to compare?

I had both. On my second 4Runner I ended up getting a nice used OEM. The aftermarket looks good far away.

I'm thinking of replacing my rear bumper pieces with aftermarket (rust). In all honesty OEM wins because of build quality but, there shouldn't be anything wrong with aftermarket as long as you take good care of it obviously. Spraying the back of the bumper and the mounts with some kind of rust prevention spray like scrambled stated is a good way to keep it in good shape.

Paint the back of it with some Rustoleum and take your time installing. Inspect it when you get it. I got done pieces off eBay with serious defects.
