Love the progress so far. I am planning a similar "rescue" on an 02 Black SR5 I bought last month. My truck has a lot of good service history in its 212K miles, but needs a good detailing to shine the paint up again and some other "clean up" things such as carpet cleaning and chrome bumper replacement/painting.
Did I mention these center caps are annoying? Mine look just like yours for the most part, but my rims are the Toyota 5 star found on 01-02 models.

Awesome choice on getting the TRD Pro's. They look awesome in Graphite! Got a matte black set on my 00 Sport and love them.

Thanks, man! Thought about going with black but liked the contrast with graphite.

WOW. I haven't updated in a loooooooong time.
First off, that list is done. Truck is sitting pretty.
Not much else I can really think of. Maybe a roof rack and light bar...snorkel. But the clutch is starting to act up at 187k (doesn't owe me anything) so that's taking priority.
As for the E46...ended up selling it Summer 2017. But, couldn't resist the 4runner / BMW combo so flew down to Texas last October and drove this back (2011 E92 M3 6MT):
I do miss the E46 sometimes, but the newer tech, complete lack of rust and the V8 make this a fun replacement.

Thanks, man. It's a great car. Only thing you really have to "worry" about are the rod bearings, but if you can diy a lot of the basic stuff (filters, fluids, plugs, belts, brakes, etc) you can budget for that job. It's not an urgent fix. Just something to think about.
Otherwise, they are dependable and solid. Of course, the 4runner gets driven more as my short commute would destroy the S65 during the winter (10W-60 corn syrup wouldn't even be close to warmed up).
Let me know if you have any questions, now's the time, they have come way down in price for what they are.

Yep I've been looking at them pretty close, I think the desirable ones (manual, 11.5, comp package, carbon roof etc) are about as cheap as they will get.
A buddy of mine just picked up an 11.5 E90 DCT Comp package and it is pretty awesome and rare, but I'd still want a manual.

Yeah mine is all of those minus the comp pack (has the ZCP wheels, which arguably is most of the package anyway, the rest being the 10mm lower springs and some EDC setting which I could code in).
And the DCT isn't terrible on these like it was on the E46 (SMG). Still prefer the manual, but it's not a bad route to go. I like how it rev-matches on downshifts. Wish the manuals did that like the new ones.

You are doing a great job restoring your 4Runner!
I have enjoyed reading your thread and seeing the transformation.
The pics speak for the many hours of work you have done.
Please continue to update as you go. Well done!!!
