Geez I hate to jack a thread but just need to be pointed to the corrected place maybe to ask this...
Daughter's 2000 4 Runner V6 3.4L 4WD.
Lost her fob, bought a new one last year, programed it...all good.
New one quite working last month, changed bat, still didn't work.
Got another new one. Tried to put her car into program mod and it will not.
Tried -Add mode, -Rewrite mode, -Confirm mode...etc nothing.
Questions please.
Where is the receiver?
Can it be reset? Besides do'n the insert key lock/unlock door thing?
Is this how a Toyota Dealership sets new fobs or do they use a computer?
TIA again sorry for the highjack. PM would work so we don't tie up this thread.

Dude, I know for a fact that are threads on this subject. Did you do a search before posting here? I did a Google search and quickly found this thread: Programming Instructions for keyless entry remote?

Do yourself and everyone else a favor and do some more research before asking a question. There's a good chance you'll find the answer you're looking for in an existing thread, and even if you don't, you can ask your question in a thread that relates to the topic you need help with so anyone searching for the same answer will find it in a logical location.

Do you get it, eh?

Dude, I’m giving it to you straight and you haven’t even remotely seen rude from me. You post a question on my thread and I gave you the appropriate response that others would also give. You should do more research before asking questions. We’re here to help but not spoon feed people. I find it funny you said I’m not helpful. Take a look at the video library my buddy Sean and I have compiled and you’ll find I’m not exactly unhelpful on this forum. Also, notice the reputation level I have. This didn’t come about because I’m unwilling to help people. My advice to you was good advice. Search for your answer before asking a question. A high percentage of the time you’ll find it all on your own. Also Dude, get a freaking sense of humor. Me saying “eh” isn’t insulting you. I’m just recognizing you’re from Canada. Stop being so sensitive and learn to work a little to find the answer to your questions. If you can’t handle a little honesty and someone calling you out on your laziness, maybe forum life isn’t for you.

@mtbtim have you considered making a post of each new video you have added? I found one for the rear brake drums....and it ended up being super helpful because then other people contributed alot of knowledge to one page on top of what you already added

I think it's pretty ingenious considering your video would set the tone for a thread then all related information could be added to that thread. Then you build another library off that lol

You have your video then post the link to the thread you started.

Just an idea. It was pretty nice to see alot of info on rear brakes in one page

What you’ve suggested, I’ve sort of done at some level. For some of our videos, I have started a complete new thread for it. For other videos, I’ve added it to an existing thread that already has lots of shared knowledge on the subject. I do like the idea of linking a related thread to the video post so people can find more information easier.

A link from a forum thread to the video, and from the video to the corresponding forum thread too, might be a good idea. That might have the effect of directing some dialog here though, with fewer in the YouTube comments section. Maybe you'd see that as a good thing as this community too can help field some questions, directly or indirectly by it being addressed already.

There's a lot of work involved in the production of these videos. I'm personally aware of only of some of this effort; and it's a lot. I believe Tim has made it a point, possibly Sean too, to respond to each YouTube comment/question. That can be exhausting, maybe more than anticipated, especially with so many videos now.

The more I think about it... I like the idea stated earlier about a T4R thread link on YouTube video. With something like "Should you wish to discuss further, or have a particular question not addressed in the video, please visit this discussion thread: https://www.toyota-4runner.org/xxxxxx". Viewers then come here and hopefully see that their question was already addressed, or find the additional details sought, even with corresponding photos and dialog better suited by a forum exchange . If not, it gets asked on the forum and some of us can take a crack at responding, possibly offloading some of the work at times when you are unable to respond.

Just a thought Tim. Hope all is well...

I think Tony is onto something with offloading work for Tim. I know the videos are a pain in the ass to do. I have done them occasionally for when I'm editing racing videos and it's painstaking. Lol

But if Tim was able to occasionally just post up, say one for example is the timing belt, and then reserve one or two post for updating info.

Tim could let the community do the work by adding part numbers and torque specs and commentary. You already do a great job at addressing past issues in your videos. But maybe this would actually let you do you and then let the community pick up the ass end.

The other thing is, it doesn't necessarily have to be Tim to start this idea....I would be up for it but I'm still a newb here. I sure as heck would be able to add some information to each one of the threads. lol

I put a 2.5 inch lift on my Gen3 4Runner and there’s grease coming out from my differential it looks like. Has anyone ever had this problem if so how do I fix it?

So common, I'd even say expected. Clean it up. Check-out Tim's video on the boot modification, as one option...

Thanks for the video! Looks like a long process i think i caught it early enough just to clean it up and throw some hose clamps on it for the time being and seeing how long that lasts till i have to do a complete axle and boot replacement.
