Depends on the condition of the rest of the frame. I suggest taking a hammer and checking the rest of your frame before deciding. If the rest of it is in okay condition then I would repair the frame.

loosing power going up hills

H i guys, relatively new to the forum, but have an interesting problem. My 01 sr5, while drive on level roads, runs fine, but while on hills looses power about halfway up hill like someone shut off the fuel. Now heres the interesting part...if i floor it, she downshifts, and climbs the hill like a scared rabbit around 70mph, and screaming around 5000rpm...any ideas would be great

you might want to move your post to
First Thing to Fix? (weak power uphill) or
The 3rd Gen All Questions Allowed Thread
It could be related to fuel, timing, maf' o2 sensors, transmission etc.

That works great for an ECU that doesnt have an Immobiliser. Then what would be the options to make it work with the car? Reprogramming? Swapping the eprom chip? Need some help here finishing my auto to manual swap!

I had never heard of this before doing the flush on Sean's rig and I honestly don't think it's necessary. If you do everything correctly, you should not pull any air into your brake system. My thinking is this, if it were actually crucial to do this step, than you would technically have to start off with your drain tube evacuated of air as well.

Anyway, I would like to hear some comments regarding the whole drain tube immersed in brake fluid. I've never done this and I've always had good results with my brake bleeds so I'm taking the position it's not necessary. Maybe it's more of a back-up in case the person doing the brake pedal pumping lifts up on the pedal before you had a chance to close the bleeder.

Enjoy the show!

ive done with and without the hose in fluid,

new to me 2001

questions :
1) someone else posted that you need a program to bleed these "newer" brakes, yet you dont use one, is it really needed ?
2) seans rig looks like it has the TBU, when I did it on my 2000 it was a bit of work to get rid of soft pedal. looks like you have no issues with it, was reluctant to try the TBU with the new style master cylinder, but I guess it must be ok. SO Sean....how is the brake pedal ?
3) it says sean switched to a 98 differential, was that to add an elocker ? Doesnt the 2001 and 2002 have a slightly different brake system and runs 2 hoses to the back, how did you go from two hoses to one hose ?

thanks to both you guys , your videos have been a big help, and just trying to learn more about this 2001 and planning upcoming mods, like a tbu.

You don't need to program anything for 2001-2002, but you can use toyota techstream to activate the abs motor for a power bleed of the abs system.

Ideas?

Hi all, I have a 1997 SR5 V6 3.4L automatic with 245k miles on her. About a month ago the engine was running rough and a little shaky at stops. Read a P0304 cylinder 4 misfire code. Next day I couldn't get it to start. I replaced the spark plugs, wires, ignition coils, and nothing.... I replaced the cylinder 4 fuel injector yesterday and shes up and running.

The engine still has a bit of a shake (not nearly as bad), but I want to stay on top of it. I let it idle for a while and drove it around some with no change. Any ideas what else could cause that rumble?
