This video shows you how to remove a pilot bearing with some bread, a bell housing bolt and a hammer. It's a very simple and effective technique.

Head Gasket Failure Diagnosis

This video shows you one way to confirm a bad head gasket or cracked head by using a cylinder leakage tester with a cooling system pressure tester. This test only works if the suspected failure is related to cylinder pressure leaking into a coolant jacket.

I just got done doing my valve cover gaskets (they were awful) and adjusting valve shims. Thanks for your videos. They made it way easier than it could have been.

I did wrap the wire harness protector in tape like you mentioned, but it was so brittle after 27 years in the desert that it just crumbled anyways. I used this thread and wrapped the harness in silicone rescue tape, wire loom, and then metal brackets to hold it in place.

I've done headgaskets on old 60's jeeps, fairly straightforward. I'm glad you're doing a video for it, but an at least 5 parter makes me thing it's way more complicated than a 60 year old 4 cylinder!

You're welcome. I'm happy to know our videos helped you out.

This head gasket series is going to be 7 parts. It's not a hard job, just time consuming. We broke it into 7 parts to make it a little more palatable. We like to show every detail possible to enable people to be successful.

Hi Tim, I did not see a video on replacing the whole A/C system on a 4runner. Was wondering if you had one where the compressor and all components were replaced along with the suction and discharge line? If you don't, would this be something I could do at home as long as the system has been drained, then take it to a shop to have it recharged. Just want to make sure that if I did it at home that I wouldn't mess up the compressor if I drove it, without the air conditioning being turned on, to a shop to have it charged once I completed the install.

You'll be fine with your plan. I did the exact same thing a year ago. If you're really paranoid you can leave the accessory belt off of the compressor and have the shop out it on

Yes, you can do what you planned. You could invest in a manifold gauge set and a vacuum pump and do the recharging yourself though.
