Hi all, was wondering if anyone had any experience with the following issue. I have a 2000 2WD SR5 and the shifter is quite loose. It rattles and moves around with every bump. Rarely, if it's not quite "all the way" in Drive it can be rattled into 2nd. Any ideas on how to tighten this up?

There's shifter bushings you can replace. This looks like a good thread to use as a reference:Loose Shifter? - Replace your shifter bushings! - Write up with pictures | Toyota 4Runner Forum [4Runners.com]

What @infamousRNR and I have provided is a long list of videos for people to use to maintain, repair and modify their rigs, so it's not really a write-up, but we thank you nonetheless.

This one was a doozy, for anyone wanting to replace both front & rear differentials we now have videos for both.

These diff's were replaced to offer @sunsetrunner ARB locking differentials with a 4.88 gear ratio for his 315's.
Enjoy!

.
Wondering if removing both the front mounts and the rear mount wouldn't make this easier to remove. The front mounts would be easy to remove, but I'm not sure if the rear mount could be removed while the diff is in place. Anyone tried this?

That rear mount would be a serious pain in the ass to remove. In a pinned comment, I detail how to do the removal and reinstallation much easier. I've now removed a replaced a front diff 4 times and the way I did it the last 3 times was a night a day difference than the struggle we showed in the video. Check out what I explain in the comment and let me know if you have any questions.

Changing Oil and Broke something

Was trying to search, but kinda in a hurry to get this fixed before the work week starts. I was trying to tighten the new oil filter (from below, not through the drivers wheel well, I know..stupid) and broke off something that has a wire connected and a spring inside it. It looks to be screwed into the bottom of the engine. Anyone have an idea what this might be?

This is on a 2000 4Runner.

Edit: fixed spelling added model of T4R.

Thanks in advance
Glenn

Oil Pressure Switch Broke

I found a Toyota 4Runner service manual online and figured out it was the Oil Pressure Switch. Bought a new one and finished my oil change. Thanks for the help weekendclimber! Next weekend I will tackle the spark plugs which may be tricky since I have a supercharger/hoses/wires in the way on the drivers side.

Sweet, just going to say that it was the oil pressure switch. Good on you for persevering

Haven't driven my 2000 in about 16 days. This morning I noticed the steering is very heavy and takes much more effort to turn the wheel. Power Steering fluid looks normal. Any ideas?
