P0325 Knock Sensor But.....

Howdy,

I have spent all evening investigating this issue here and one common is lack of power at 2500rpm and other performance issues; I have none. T4R is running excellent with 200K miles!

What happened though was last week I got the P0171 CEL code that was my MAF and a cleaning fixed this but as soon as I put it all together started up and drove a while then cleared the code the P0325 had popped!

I'll dig in tomorrow but is there a wire or something I could have snagged or unplugged in taking the air intake plastic parts off? To access the MAF I just pull the whole shooting' match; air cleaner right up to air horn. One hose was tough to get off and I just twisted it all out of the way instead of wrestling with it.

Preliminary search revealed no obvious disconnect but odd it would show uo at the exact moment I started messing around in there.

Thanks!

UTeP

There's a grey sub-harness assembly that you may have disturbed. It contains three wires in it. I'm not near my computer but will look through my posts to see if I have a picture for you.

OK found a picture for you in one of my links. Harness Assembly

This is probably the culprit. Keep in mind the code is NOT because there's something wrong with your timing. The code is the ECU letting you know it has a problem reading the knock sensor on that bank.

Killer!

Great photos, thanks to you I now know where it is at least!

Let me see if I understand the issue though.

All my P0325 code is telling me is my ECU is not getting a signal from one or both of my knock sensors. Could be sensor(s) or wiring or ???? (fuse?)

From what I've gathered the results should be poor performance and no ability to get into OD.

If a knock developed for one reason or another my ECU will not be able to detect and hence not adjust appropriately.

Since I am not experiencing ANY performance issues how "dangerous" is it to drive like with for the short term?

Looks like an entire days job. ~$400 for 2 sensors, harness and gaskets....

Thoughts?

Thanks,

U

You pretty much have it down. I'm not at home so excuse any typos. I'm on my cell phone. No fuse to look at. The ECU will protect your engine so nothing to worry about there. It's programmed to retard timing to a safe mode. Normally your gas mileage takes a huge hit. Just keep resetting the code until you fix it. If it turns out to be sensors and not a wiring issue, spend the extra for OEM sensors and pick up a new sub harness.

Thanks again,

So far MPG's been ~20mpg!

Does resetting the CEL make a difference?

Thanks,

Yes, anytime the CEL comes on with either the of KS codes you should reset it. Sometimes you can go for days or weeks without the KS codes. That's what happened to mine. It finally started to trip the codes more frequently which led me to change both knock sensors. I'm surprised you're not seeing a decrease in your MPG's with the 0325 code.
