Bubba's Build and Adventures.
Big October adventure got postponed cause life got in the way but work continues... Also planning out some simple rear storage, wiring and other goodies.

Started the VC job. Have appropriate reference material ready to go!
Just a reference for me. What the Valves looked like.

I used a cheap vacuum pump to bleed my brakes and replace the old fluid. I started with the driver rear. It took a really long time to get a solid flow of fluid without bubbles and used most of a large can of fluid from Autozone. Not sure what thats about. At first I thought it was the pump but it holds a vacuum just fine. The fluid coming out was nearly clear. Is it normal to have a lot of bubbles?

I will say it is really nice not smelling burning oil all the time anymore.
Some other recent updates:
Had a minor coolant leak at return hose on engine. Found the metal to be quite corroded. Cleaned it up with a wire wheel on a Dremel tool. Im thinking it may be a future replacement item. Also cut the hose shorter. No more leaks.
Also got a quote for installation of LCA bushings to be installed if I supplied part. It was OVER $800 just for labor! Thats just to press out and press in the new bushings not even an alignment. I nearly shat myself as I could buy 2 brand new A-arms from Toyota WITH the bushings installed, 2 new CV's from NAPA, Toyota ITRE's and new UBJs for that price. WTF.
Im wondering if there was a miscalculation.

Bubba's Build and Adventures.
Haven't posted in a while, got rear ended....again. got it fixed and did some more maintenance crap.
Dealt with the p0446 again....sourced to more cracks on the vapor POS. JB Weld to the rescue. Eventually i'll have to get a new one, probably the doorman one cause it's half the cost of toyota.
I got an OBDII reader and some new plug wires and get this...
I also noticed i've been leaking coolant and sourced it to the Thermostat. Replaced.
I have some Whiteline Racing LCA bushings going in the end of the month.

Nice looking runner....love the avatar pic down in Box.
Hopefully when my 4Runner is done we can get together to hit some trails.

So here is my pre/post coolant temp. Daily driving. I'm thinking maybe I need to do a flush or consider transmission cooler for summer.

Bubba's Build and Adventures.
Major accomplishment status!
Completed the LCA replacement with Whitelines and it was EASY!
Cam sleeves came right out (from a mostly Cali/Colorado truck). Had play in 3/4 of the old bushings. mostly they were all torn.
Watched Timmys Garage vid a couple of times for guidance. But having some help that has done this several times goes a long way, even though he sold out and owns an LC100 Trail Pig now.

Bubba's Build and Adventures.
Not sure how to fuss over alignment numbers. But MAN what a difference in feel on the road. seems more responsive and it feels more cushy on the bumps. no more squeaking clanking creaking from the front suspension.
Alignment pros feel free to chime in with where it "should" be.

I'm really dreading having my truck aligned after the lift goes on. The truck is from the NE, and I'm sure not many people down here know how to work on rusty stuff, even though it's really not that rusty.

Alignment looks good in the fact that your cross caster, toe, cambers are all close to zero. Meaning the left side is almost the same as the right side. Could they not get any more caster out of it though? I feel like you should be able to get a good bit more out of the LCA adjusters. After my lift I had 1.6* of caster, since adding bumper and winch the truck has settled a little and I haven't adjusted the coilovers back up. Last time I got an alignment I was almost at the lower stock limit of 2.3* I think, I can go look and verify.
I like as much caster as I can get since it helps with the wheel returning to center and keeping the truck straight when there is a crown to the road. I always go out there and talk to the tech and tell them I want as much caster as possible.
EDIT: My truck was at 2.0* of caster before the winch. Haven't had an alignment since then, but it should be a little higher. Maybe 2.1 or 2.2*. Going in for an alignment Wednesday morning so I'll know then.
