3rd Gen 4runner Rear Coil Spring Replacement and Rear Shock Bushing Replacement

Hey Dudes, here's a video of @infamousRNR and I replacing the rear springs on my truck with some 99 springs. After the truck settled, I gained a huge 1" lift. Woohoo! We also replaced the rubber bushings on my Bilstein shocks with some polyurethane ones I bought from Energy Suspension.

Enjoy the show!

Nice video as always Tim. I used to have 99 rears on my 99 but due to the sag from time I decided to get some OME 906s. The only drawback is that the ride is rougher in the rear.

That is a big trophy.

Nice yard.

The trophy was an appreciation gift for being an active volunteer with this non-profit that builds trails. It's fun going out and getting in some serious saw time blazing a trail for the machines.

I did all the landscaping myself but my girlfriend now does more yard work then me because I'm too busy wrenching on my truck, making videos and surfing the forum.

Thanks!

Hey Tim. Just wanted to give plaudits here for the excellent video. Used it this weekend to put in 906 coils and 4Runner 5100s. Went off without a hitch. The old shocks came off easily with the flexible head wrench/ratchets, honestly I have no idea how I would have gotten the top nut off WITHOUT those. And I replaced the rear sway bar links and all sway bar bushings while I was in there. The only problem I ran into was undoing the old sway bar end links.

Pictures below.

Before - See rear sag:

During - Using 6 ton jack stands on the frame, undid the e-brake bracket, unlinked the sway bar, and dropped the rear axle using a floor jack. Springs came out with scarcely a wiggle, new ones went in no problem.

After - haven't measured, but a decent rake front to back - I don't notice a stiffer ride, in fact, I think it is damping quite a bit better in the rear.

Front coilovers are next - probably going 880 and Bilstein 5100 - I was considering going 881 but I'd like to keep my rake.
