Rallypoint_1's 1998 SR5 2WD
Current pic 05/29/17
Hi T4R!!!
My name is Bill and I have been a lurker for a while. I really enjoy this site and especially the respect that's given to all members.
A little back story on my 3rd gen. My father originally bought it new. I tried to get him to buy a 4wd model but he said "What for?" He was 60 at the time. Ok, no biggie it's his.
Forward to 2016. He and my mom are almost 80. Mom is having trouble getting in. It's too high for her. So Dad buys a new vehicle. He gets a 2016 Suburu Crosstrek AWD. Mom is happy and dad...not so much.LOL He loved his "truck". Happy wife, happy life.
So...this is where I come in. Dad wants the 4R to go to a good home. So, he gives me his beloved 4R!!! It's in great condition! Always garaged and maintenance is always done. Now it's mine! Here are a few pics:
A few mods on the list are:
2.5-3" lift
31x10.5 tires
being 2wd I am limited on the type of trails I can go on so the mods might not be as hardcore as some of the 4wd rigs here.
Thanks for looking!!!

Wow awesome truck. I too have a 2wd DD that I have modded a lot. Look on here and you'll find some fun things to do, even to a 2wd.

Even the throttle body and heater valve brackets look brand new. Impressive truck you have there.

Holy crap, that interior is like in showroom condition. And its amazing...adjusted for inflation the truck would cost $42,275 in todays dollars.

Oh ya! Dad really loved his truck. I think giving it up was bitter sweet. I told him to keep both cars but he didn't find it necessary. Now I have 4 cars with 4 insurance payments.LOL

No off roading/mud for my dad. Isn't the price wild! This 4Runner cost more back in 1998 than his 2016 Suburu Crosstrek. I bet his AWD Crosstrek would off road maybe better than the truck.
Thanks for all the nice words everyone!!!

Rally, you'd be surprised as to how far you can go with the 2WD. I have a 99 and the only time I've really been stuck is going up a steep hill on ice/snow! Have fun though, you have a blank canvas Mr. Van Gogh!

2WD's are not slouch, I can vouch for this. The main thing is just having fun and working with what you have! Congrats on your truck and I look forward to the mods!

Thanks guys!! I feel very inspired and I think I am going with OME 881 fronts/890 rear coils for now. I am on a budget at the moment. The shocks are 6 months old so it should be ok for a while. I don't think I need longer shocks for these coils do I?

Well if you plan on doing a 3" lift with the 881s w/top plate spacer the current front shocks will be alright. You'll need longer shocks for the rear to match the 890s however. Honestly if you're going to do a lift, I would just save up and do it right once because if you keep adding pieces over time you'll just end up spending more than you originally planned.
