So I try to test out the 4wd while im waiting for a friend to come out and the light wont turn on when i hit the button. I try to shift it into 4low while in neutral and it makes grinding noise going into 4low and 4 high. Any ideas?

when you first hit the button to get into 4wd, were you moving? you have to move a little bit before it engages.

right. if you shift into 4lo and back to 4 hi while rolling very slow and in NEUTRAL, you will feel a light grind. You should not have to force the gears together, just a light push should do it. but you should be stopped and in neutral before shifting into low range.

OK so the light is out I think and the 4wd does work. I guess it didnt engage even though I was driving a bit before I tried to shift it into 4lo. Maybe just not enough then. So thanks for the help maybe I was moving a little cuz I was stopped going down a hill when I tried to put it in 4lo.
