AC mystery....

I recently had my 96 AC serviced at a shop since it was working intermittently. It would blow cold half the time and then just go "warm" or not not blow cold to begin with. Compressor has always kicked on and the controls work properly in the cabin.

After having it serviced it worked for 2 days and then the next afternoon it stopped. The following days it has worked just fine. The shop did not find any issues at the time but did tell me to bring it back if needed since that had used dye.

My conditions are the same everyday. Drive to work @ 8 - sits in the parking lot ( no shade ) - back home @ 5.

Any ideas / suggestions? I seriously doubt this is a leak issue right?

I would just bring it back to the shop and tell them what you're experiencing. They should guarantee their work. Unless you have your own manifold gauges, you're not going to be able to diagnose this problem with any level of certainty.

I had similar situation on my 05 toyota sienna van.. It turned out to be marginal or faulty thermostat which would turned off the ac through the ecm signals.
Once thermostat change, it's working perfect... Yu should feel the upper and lower radiator hose for equal temp when hot.. Feel by hand.. Watch temp gauge which would move higher then normal but never overheating conditions..
Atleast my case it worked.

Thanks for the tips! I will check out the temp and take it back the shop Monday. Hopefully they can pinpoint the issue and I would have to go back and forth.....
