Genuine OEM Parts in CANADA

So where do all my fellow Canucks buy their genuine Toyota parts from?

I have a bunch of parts I'm looking for (upper/lower ball joints, inner and outer tie rods + some other cheapish stuff) and the local dealership wanted $1472 CAD or with a 15% discount $1266 CAD.

Looking online on more than a few websites these parts are worth ~$650 USD, current exchange rate sets that around $860 CAD. Most places won't ship to Canada and the one that I found that did ship to Canada wanted $450 for shipping!?!

Unless I can find a more reasonable place to buy parts I'm going to have to order the parts to a receiver just across the border and go pick them up my self. It's only 8% duty on auto parts...

So I pose my question: where do my fellow Canucks buy their OEM Toyota parts from?

I ordered lower ball joints yesterday from directpartstoyota. Price was more reasonable vs dealer

$141 each vs $182 per side from the dealer

Even with the crappy exchange rate, it's still cheaper to buy parts from the various US based Toyota parts websites than it is to get anything from the dealer

What sites have you purchased from in the past? I'm getting mentally prepared for a 5 hour return drive south...

I think for $1k+ in parts it might be worthwhile to drive south if the border isn't too far. I've found Toyota Parts of Dallas to be the cheapest, but that was a long time ago so not sure if that's still valid.

I've always ordered from Camelback. Their prices seemed to be the cheapest and has always been quick. I get it shipped to the border and then drive or just walk across, depending on what it is. Plus a drive through the southern Okanagan is rarely a bad thing.
The exchange rate blows, but it's still way better than getting bent over by the dealers here

I used this site to order parts: Toyota Online Parts | toyotaonlineparts.com | Toyota Parts Online They actually accepted my Canadian CC and shipped to my US shipping address. Best part is, my CC wasn't compromised after using them either, unlike a few of the other online parts places.

...So i had a $2k plus parts order that i was going to place through ToyotaPartsDirect.ca which is in canada, but i thought i would give my local dealer a try first, the local dealer didnt even match the prices but beat them by 10% plus no shipping charges. just make sure to bring a printout of the prices from TPD to the dealer, thats what my local one wanted.

TOYOTA Parts

If you parts guy won't actually beat or match them then it's time to find a new source. My contact will at least match the price and that saves me the shipping.

Interesting. I never tried that approach of bringing the parts printout from the online site to my local dealer for matching. I always assume they'd get all bent out of shape about it and kick me out of the store yelling "This isn't a Wal-mart" or something.

I going to place an 700$ order soon. Wheel bearings and UBJ's

Piece of advice, don't worry about going OEM for the ITRE's. Just get MOOG ones from less than half the price. You could consider MOOG for the OTRE's too, but that's up to you.

The ITRE's won't see the amount of abuse to justify paying the Toyota Tax for.

I have a post office box in Niagara Falls NY. It is a 5 minute drive over the border. It's about 2.5 hours for me to drive there but even with the exchange rate is is well worth it. The prices at Canadian Toyota dealerships are insane compared to dealerships in the USA.

Im on a business trip next week and picking up set of lower ball joints for $199 USA for both! My local dealerships wants $329 EACH…

Well worth the exchange rate of 30%.

Im going to try the price match and see if they will consider that. Tough with our low Canadian dollar...

I know its a crazy thought, but, what if someone were to drive from canada to the states, buy their parts in the states, install the parts and then drive back to canada. Is that crazy? I dont think they can charge you tax on parts you installed on your vehicle right? Just a thought or two.......

People have done it with tires and I would think they can assess a value if they think they are new. As for other parts, they would have to inspect the underbody but I think that would be unlikely unless they suspected something.
