Fml dude

Took few guys from Tacoma forum to a local spot to show around. After all day wheeling. And after dinner driving home I hear a pound banging sound going through bumps. Check under and yea!

My friend said he can cut it and weld new metal.

Anyone have suggestion to maybe relocate the shock mounts ?

wow man, yeah i keep my buckets up there clean, that little hole they made for a drain hole clogs up with dirt with the smallest pebble.

your options could be to weld a new bracket in or just go with exterior shock hoops.

My rear set up is superflex coils with fj 5100. It's possible to mount the shocks on the original axle ?

Bump. Does anyone have reliable info on outboard/outside frame relocation? Is there aweld on kit available? Do you still use existing lower shock mounts that are on the oem axle ? Can you still flex out on outside frame relocation with 285/75/16

Holy shit! You're the first I've seen to have a failure like that. Those areas are supposed to be thick metal. I'm pretty sure you can buy the upper shock mounts directly from Toyota to weld on.

You can get a cleaner rig, and swap parts. But that is a long shot beyond. I truly don't have rust compared to actually rusted trucks. I had 2 spots that were a concern and got fixed. Anyways,

What do you guys recommend, since I am in this mess. I have Icon 2.5 CDC extended travel shocks. I believe basically similar travel to bilstein 5100 aka long travel shocks.

Do you recommend, mounted the shocks on the outside ? My concerns for this is, will a 285/75/16 fit between tire and the 2.5 shocks when fully flexed.

Another thing I had in mind. Was to cut out the top shock tower. And weld a square plate. Taking the shape of the corner frame. Which would have the shock a little higher. Because the oem tower is a bowl shaped.

You will definitely want wheels spacers with the 2.5" shocks. I made these myself.

Did some research. See a lot of people run Ford F-250 mounts. Would like to hear people with 2.5 shocks and their opinions on off road with it on the outside
