Then I guess my question would be what is the inherent difference between Aisin lockouts that go on my '94 Toyota 4Runner IFS and the Aisin lockouts that I want to put on my 1st gen Tacoma/3rd 4runner (with inner hub conversion)? As stated before, I checked spline count And I know someone before stated to check spline count but it seems the same from my research. I can't imagine Toyota changing much between the years. Maybe the diameter of axle that sits in the lockouts are different from 2nd gen 4runner to 1st gen Tacoma? Can anyone confirm this?

If you already have everything to swap it over then why not try it and let us know if it works or not?

I guess that's true haha. The reason was because I'm still waiting on an axles to come in and one other part and I kind of wanted to know sooner so could move this project along to see if I have to order/find different lockouts. But I guess I can wait a little and do some testing.

The positioning of where the hub meets with axle splines with respect to the knuckle is different. On the 3rd Gens the hub body is inset.
Try it out and see if it fits though!

I wished that they'd explained why it was a weird question and why question it at all...
not everyone here shaves their legs, I guess.

Years and years of bolo and not a manual hub in sight in the local self-serve yards, lucky you.
Thanks
@ JZiggy
too, for clarifying. I knew they wouldn't fit and was thinking it was something like that, but couldn't remember the exact details.

I didn't want to have my '99 apart for a long time while I had my donor non-ABS manual hub Taco hubs pressed into ABS housings, so I got some ABS uprights from a junkyard. 3rd gens are hit and miss in the PnP style yards these days, slowly becoming a bit less common, so I looked up the parts interchange and found that first gen Sequoia/Tundras use the exact same part number. And for whatever reason, those are generally easier to find in the PnP yards, so that's what I ended up getting.
And good thing, between two different machine shops, the presswork (disassemble and reassemble with new bearings) took around 2 months. The first machine shop wasn't busy, but after 2 weeks gave up and said they couldn't get it to budge. The second shop is busy as hell, because they get stuff done. But it takes a while.
Installed them with new upper ball joints (I recently did lowers) last weekend. Oh, another thing that took several months? Getting OEM rebuilt CV shafts. The donor manual shafts I got were fine, but the boots were a little tired yet. Not yet cracked and leaking, but soon. I thought it would be nice to save those as spares and get rebuilt ones. Especially since the rebuilts were barely more than the cost of new boots. And the Toyota dealer was happy to take ADD CV shaft cores in return, I specifically mentioned they weren't manual shafts, and they were OK with it. But yeah, after almost 2 months they initially came up with a pair of rebuilts, and when I went to pick them up I opened the boxes and found one manual shaft, one ADD. It took another month or so to find a second manual CV shaft.

I have my buddy working at LKQ with an alert for ANY 1st gen Tacoma that comes through their network. NADA, ZIP. Zilch.
They are just not out there. I found a yard in Amarillo with a set, they had been gone for months...
I am just going to be patient. I can piece together a "new" setup for around 600 dollars...

4WD 3rd Gens in the yards in SoCal are few and far between, 1st Gen Tacos, or almost any Tundra/Sequoia, are as rare as hen's teeth.

ORS has kits, partsgeek has one, too. ORS sells the locking tool and bearing retainers. Yotamasters has stud and cone washer kits (studs are a tad longer, needs open nuts). Nobody has half shafts in stock, except TrakMotive 8029 in parts stores (Rockauto has them for $43 each). All the seals can be ordered from the dealers. You can do it ABS or non-ABS.
Everything can be purchased aftermarket or OEM except the spindles. The press work is what it is. If you really want it, it's out there and do-able.
Unless you like playing the luck of the draw waiting game why not just pull trigger on the kit?

Because I'm liable to do something stupid like chop all the IFS and throw a Solid Axle under it if I come across the right parts. The manual hubs are sort of an "it would be nice to have, but I don't need it" type of mods.
I'm likely going to be building some gusseted spindles soon, so I may end up doing the conversion at the same time. Really depends how my bank account looks when I do the gussets.
My friend Nick did the conversion on his 3rd gen, and spent about 500 on the parts. I'm honestly holding out for him to go ahead and SAS his rig...

Look for a Chevy 4x4 truck with 14 bolt/Sterling axles and add the factory electric locker option.
You have a better chance of finding those in the yards than vintage Toyota parts.
