Just a mini update...

- Swapped out my OEM catalytic converter for a Walker unit while trying to chase down some funny exhaust noises on high rpm decel. I think the new cat fixed it, the old one must've had a bit of restriction or something going on. Hopefully the old one will be worth some $$ at a recycler.

- Bled the brakes and clutch, has been two years since I did that last. About 20 pumps per bleeder (4 brakes, 1 LSPV, 1 slave cylinder) pretty much used one whole quart of DOT 3

Found a nice spot in the woods with a view to set up "camp" and do some emails

Also kicking around ideas for a roof top tent, DIY style like the olden days

Might be watching a while really just having a go at all the RTTs I see driving around here. They seem to be important for mall crawler status??

Hahaha...I had a bunch of 12'x8" boards on the truck roof today for a project, we were joking about that very same thing

I see so many of those just on the freeway and in parking lots, but almost never actually in use. It's kinda weird.

On a more serious note, holy smokes have you done a lot with your rig. My wishlist just got 10x longer.

JBA sent me their updated dust boots. While I had the joints out to install them I went ahead and cross drilled the stud so I could put in a cotter pin as an extra safety mechanism. I may also consider upgrading the grade 5 bolts to some nice 10.9 metric flange bolts in the future. The little red grease zerk covers weren't staying on very well so I replaced them with some black ones I had in my parts pile that fit a little better.

Great tips, I'll definitely do the same when I finally get mine!

Got meself one of those $99 8' awnings from NAPA auto. Nice unit!

Made some special mounts similar to Sherpa's style but (I think) a little better.

Can't remember the last time I posted here as it has been a very busy summer... I have no reference point (Sherpa's), but those bracket are well-conceived! As always, nice fab work. What stock did you work with to make those? Is this that $99 awning?

Love the simplicity of the awning mounts, I think I'll be stealing the idea for myself down the line!

Thank you! Sherpa's mounts allow you to slide the awning further or closer from the rack. But I realized that by having the mounts "capture" the side rail it dramatically increases the strength because you aren't just relying on the two 1/4-20 bolts to hold it on. You can also unbolt it and slide the awning on and off easily since it just slots into place.
