So why exactly did you agree to ditch the supercharger? I would have kept the damn thing. Unless you're using the funds from it to fix up everything, then I guess that's understandable.

Haha might have to go with LC's, it has been a while, I was stoked to see your build get bumped and still going. A testament to Toyota with that engine still chugging along.

Haha I was wondering when someone was going to inquire about that. It was a budget matter mostly, but also because my friend found the deal and only wanted the SC. We bought the whole truck for 2k and my friend paid $1200 for the SC, which I will be rebuilding and installing on his 96 5 lug taco...

I wish I could have kept it as this thing pulls hard on stock tires, but I just couldn't manage it budget wise right now. Also since this won't be my DD I could care less about the extra power. I'll probably split time driving it with my Tundra just for fun, but it will mostly be for wheeling trips, so I don't exactly "need" a supercharger right now. Plus I'm sure I can find a cheaper SC at some point. I felt my money was better off going to all the little items it needs and basic maintenance for now. Just wish I could find a cheap aftermarket bumper instead of paying for a stock bumper, which I just threw one out 3 months ago when I moved.

Gotcha.. It would have been hard for me to sell the sc if I had got it for so cheap but understand the situation. You're buddy got a good deal haha. I sold my rear CBI bumper to fund my axle project, so I definitely get the whole budget thing.

Well, I suggest making some trips to the junk yards.

Any local fab shops able to do something cheap out of tube for you? I've seen parting out stock bumpers go for less than $100. Doesn't seem too bad.

Trust me, I looked into all the options to keep it, but no dice. I'll find one eventually, but may save it for a project dream I want to do. Supercharged 3.4 1st gen 4runner...

Just went to the yard this morning and got some SR5 rear mud flaps for a whopping $14. Too bad the bumpers were mangled messes.

I'm having a very tough mental block right now for spending anything over $200 for this truck because I got it for so cheap. I just want something up front so I don't get pulled over at this point and then I can look into modding it. We will see what pops up in the next couple months.

Understandable. You might toss something up in the classifieds. Several people might be getting aftermarket bumpers from black friday or christmas. I know I gave mine away, maybe you can find one local?

A little more progress on the rebuild, I found an OEM 2000 front bumper at the pick-n-pull for $55. It has a dent in the chrome and some scratches, but for $55 it will do just fine till I get a real bumper up front. Also ordered the parts for the valve cover gasket replacements as there is oil everywhere in the back of the engine and I will be pulling the SC anyways. All the parts should be here Friday, so I can get it all installed and back on the street by the time I'm back in work on Tuesday.

Onto the SC, turns out the guy who split it with me won't be able to install it, so it will be for sale. I wish I could keep it, but I can't swing it, so if anyone is interested send me a PM. It is a 1st gen with static tensioner and TRD black faced boost gauge. I will post a for sale thread when I have it off this weekend.

Well I have all but forgotten this thread...to be honest the truck sat for months while life got in the way. Fast forward to today and the Tundra is sold and this is my daily. Typical SCRunner fashion it has gone through a couple wheel/tire changes, but good to go now. I'll update the first few posts with the additions (not much) and current picture.

Sadly though it will be sold soon. Sold the Tundra to manage our debt and shortly after found out #3 is on it's way...so I will be selling the 4runner to fund a Sequoia or minivan. RTT's fit on minivans right?

Congrats on the 3rd! You're going to be outnumbered. I've got number 3 coming in August. I've got to find a way to fit 3 carseats in my 4runner though. It's not going anywhere. I know it can be done.

My wife's prius is on the way out though. No way 3 kids are fitting back there. We're looking for a Sequoia, but finding an 05-07 with 4wd is turing out to be tougher than I thought.

You can fit a RTT on a minivan.

mid engine 4x4 with optional supercharger!

Haha my mom had one of those vans when we were growing up (no 4x4 or supercharger though). I tried fitting 3 booster seats in the back and it was rough, definitely won’t work with two full size seats and a booster. Also after having my tundra I really enjoyed and appreciated the higher build quality and comfort.

I’ve been looking at the 05-07 as well and they are all 9-15k and still 150k+ miles. Good luck with your third, we finally got a boy and due September.

Sad to see you go, but congrats on #3! I'm sure you'll always leave the door ajar for a possible return at some point down the road.

And I'm single (well, not married that is) with no kids and look for an excuse all the time to buy a minivan. Double sliders!
