ABS/VSC TRAC/Brake Lights and Audible Alarm

For the 3 years I've owned my 2001, I've had my ABS/VSC TRAC/brake lights and an audible alarm come on intermittently when the temperature gets down below 40 or so. This year, it has gotten worse and for the last few days, it has just stayed on constantly, even when it warms up.

I've searched and searched and searched and have come away with more questions than answers. I have pulled all 4 ABS sensors and cleaned them to ensure that wasn't the issue. I don't want to just throw money at parts and hope that does the trick, so how do I diagnose this?

Even though you might not have a visible check engine light you should check for codes. Have you don't this? If so what were your findings?

I'm at the fire station today, but I will put my reader on it tomorrow and see what I come up with.

My reader did not show any codes, but I do not have a check engine light on either. Do I need a different code reader that may show more codes than mine does?

I can't answer that question for sure. My reader has the option "stored codes" which shows codes that don't make the check engine light illuminate.

Some light reading if you haven't already:

Brake, VSC OFF, VSC TRAC, ABS lights on

My reader shows no pending or stored codes.

I don't want to just start replacing ABS sensors, and I really don't want to replace the master cylinder and ABS motor without verifying it is bad.

I agree with you. The links I sent has some information about trying other things and diagnostics approach that doesn't include spending tons of money and randomly replacing expensive sensors and parts.

this happened to me as well i figured it was because my battery was dead and maybe i boosted it all wrong. Anyways later after about 25-30 minutes of driving, because i didnt want to shut it off without giving the dead battery a charge, it all went away it seemed once it warmed up it was fine..... the other variable was the new battery.

Once its cold like that again ill report back.

Had the same on my '01 SR5. I kept driving and eventually it died on me. I replaced the alternator and it fixed it, but I later found bad grounds. I did the big 3 upgrade and it has been peachy ever since.

I've done the Big 3 with 2/0 and 2 AWG welding leads, plus a Group 31 AGM battery that is less than a year old, so I don't think that's my issue.

I removed the speaker that gives the audible alarm, so I can at least drive without getting a headache. I plan to do a zero point calibration at the fire station tomorrow and see what that does.

Hey guys i had problem in 4 runner 2002.after i change HBB motor with pump. Brake started work perfect. Only one problem ligts is on and Firestone not can read ABS CODES. They say they not see ABS.
And not possible to do zero point calibration
My question.
What can be wrong?
Were is brain of ABS system?
ABS module (come with master silinder) or ABS TRAC VSC COMPUTER CONTROL MODULE (what is left side of driver.)
Thank you.
