rkntoy's Really Slow Dual Case Install
It begins...
Thought I would start a thread to track putting together my dual t-case with triple shifters. I have gotten info from a bunch of different threads but will try to keep all my steps in this thread. Just don't expect me to get it done quickly as the startup I work for is starting to take off. My goal - get it wrapped and trail tested in time for Colorado Toyota Jamboree.
In parts accumulation mode now.
Thanks to Trail-Gear for starting things off with helpful phone calls and fast shipping.

But...using the time to keep accumulating parts.
Enter the URD short-shift kit and my triple-stick shifter setup from RADesigns. Going to get my drivelines lengthened/shortened in advance too - picked up some spares.
Rory at RADesigns is most excellent to work with.

Index finger, right hand on a obvious set of working hands. That is going to hurt for a while. That is the one finger that touches everything. Nice build, I love the duel case but dont have the need to justify it myself.

Yup - breaking all safety procedures I was holding a stud aligned with the base plate with my right hand and using my framing gun with my left. Framing gun obviously pointed at my right hand.
Well, double shots happen - especially when I use my non-dominant hand. First nail - right where I wanted it. Second one - not so much. Off to the ER with a 3" galvanized framing nail in my finger. Thought for a moment about grabbing wise-grips but thought for sure I had gotten the bone. In the end, I just glanced the nail off the very tip.
Can't feel the tip of the finger any more - hopefully some will come back.

OK - feeling is finally coming back a little bit so hauling the drivelines in for modification.
Before I start is there any specific steps that people want documented while I do it?
Going to be following the Trail-Gear install guides for installing the 4.7 gearset ( http://www.trail-gear.com/PDF/105000-1-INS.pdf) and Taco adapter ( http://www.trail-gear.com/PDF/304091-1-INS.pdf). The guides are sure a lot more complete than the first time I installed a dual case setup.

Subbed might have to follow your lead on this. More of a novelty item, but would be useful as well, for me at least.

Ordering up some more parts during healing time. Anyone need a set of triple stick shift knobs? Ordered these which means I am getting 3 too many.

Heading off to the laser etching place to see how much it would take to etch them something like this with a matching 2WD-4WD.
