Lift with ride quality?
I'm fairly new to TR4.org and I must say there is a lot of helpful information out here. I've been researching lifts for my '96 runner and it seems that all seem to stiffen up the ride quite a bit from stock. I was wondering if there's a lift out there that has a ride comparable or bettter (doubtful) than stock. I'm not looking for anything drastic just about 1.5-2.5" of lift. Anything between that range. My trucks mainly a pavement pounder but i'd like to start wheeling it when I get a chance and the lift wound be nice. I heard of the PP springs but people usually use them with bilsteins and I hear it's rougher than stock. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know some of you may have tried out different lifts so may have some first hand experience on this subject. Thanks

I see I got 27 views but not a single reply? I search and I haven't found anything about this. Maybe no one has any input?

The tundra/LC lift is suppose to have great ride quality and even better offroad abilities..
I think any suspension setup will be better than the stock ride quality... Get the OME medium setup... You should be fine with that...

Cheapest 1" lift is the '99 coils but here's a site that offers a full package for 4Runners which isn't as harsh as the Bils.

if your only going to do a 1" lift and your springs/shocks are good to go, get a 1" body lift for around $80 and call it a day. you could also just get a spacer lift, like 2.5" for around 250 and ride like that until you decide if you want to spend $7-900 for some new springs and shocks.

you should be aware though that the BL will require a steering extension, and may mess with where your radiator sits, and you have to watch your fan touching the fan shroud.
plus there will be a gap btwn the body and the front bumper.

Where can I get an OME medium setup? Is there more than one source that you guys know of? Also Has anyone tried the PP Springs with tokico trekmasters or TRD Double cab struts?

Well it looks like I've narrowed down my search to either the pp springs or going with a setup similar to the SS #7 kit but with the tacoma TRD DC shocks in the front and N906 coils with N86C shocks in the rear. I heard that if you don't used the top out spacer up front that you only get about 2" of lift and the N906 coils in the rear will give me about the same. Does anyone has this setup and ca verifiy what I've heard about using the spacers?

I'm not sure which kit is SS#7. The spacers I have on the front of my 4Runner are there to level out the front and rear with the 3" coils. They really aren't that much of a spacer, I'll find a pic and post it up. As far as ride quality with my kit, I really can't tell a difference, very pleased.

Kit #7 is a 2.25" lift up front and a 2.5" lift in the rear. I was actually hoping to down size this a little to 2" all around with the changes to the kit I stated above. I'm not looking for a big lift. I was leaning towards the pp springs but I hear the Ome/tundra trd setup will likely better be a better ride.

The Tundra lift will hurt the budget more so do some research.

If i get the pp spring with some medium duty ome rear n86c shocks and taco trd shocks upfront will i need anything else besides a diff drop? I'm told i'll need a panhard drop bar, ebrake bracket, entended brake line(s) in addition to the diff drop. If I got the tundra setup a top spacer to get the full 2" lift.

I have a 1998 SR5 T4R 4x4 with a few good suspension mods. Pro-Comp struts up front, +2" Pro-Comp ES3000 shocks in the rear. The lift consists of a Day Star 2.5" polyurethatne kit. The ride is extremely smooth, almost as good as stock. I'm not sure of the long term ride of the Pro-Comp materials though. It does wallow/squirm a touch over bumps due to the stock length panhard bar. This is negligable, but still nolticable if the driver *really* knows what to look for.

Postal Script: The total cost for the struts, shocks, spacer kit, and non-hydralic coilspring compressor was a total of $470 dollars from 4wheel parts and acessories. I was able to install the components myself with the help of an impact wrench, a six pack of Natural Light, and a pack of cigarettes by myself in a little less than four hours.
