Air Mattress for 3rd Gen

Hi Folks,

A few years ago I bought a "Truckbedz" Air Mattress for my truck.. it was super comfy, fitted perfectly and all was well with the world when I went to chows and events, and all my friends had to fight with tents rain and other usual camping associated misery.

The model was a "Truck-bedz Weekender VCSB T1" unfortunately it was eaten by mice when in storage and beyond repair. (Pic attached)

I tried to get hold of Truckbedz, and although the company seems to be officially still in trading, and they reply on the facebook group, they have not had stock for over 2 years, and don't appear to be getting any.

The nearest alternative that I can find is another company called "Airbedz" (equally annoying spelling). These look like a similar sort of thing, but the designs look a loot more generic, "one size fits all"

Airbedz-Lite PPI-PV203C

Does anyone have one in a 3rd Gen?

How well do they fit? What is the distance between the arches on the mattress? (Airbedz themselves won't give me the measurements and just want to say if it fits or not.

Thanks!

Thanks!!

I don't know if its a culture thing, but I have found a lot of US suppliers don't answer emails... It took several companies before someone would take my money for front and rear 4.88s and Truetracs + fitting kits!

Maybe its because I'm foreign and they all think I'm a Nigerian scam artist.

Don't even get me started on people who don't have the courtesy to reply to an email...

Good luck getting a new one, I'm interested to hear what route you go this time.

I called this afternoon and the guy I spoke with (I ASSUME it was the owner) sounded pretty distraught.

Basically he said he has tens of thousands of dollars in materials and tools in a factory (I imagine overseas) that he cannot access because the owner of the factory wants more money to produce them.

Then he went on a rant (understandably) about how online retailers that will only drop-ship are killing him. He said that since "Bass Pro Shops and those guys" stopped buying inventory he cannot afford to spend the money necessary to get those items he has ready to be made, made.

He also said there is a list you can put your name on and he'll call you when/if he ever gets them in stock. He said it would likely be a long time.

It truly is an act of god these days to get a same day reply from some retailers. When I was doing sales and marketing, I strived to get out same day response on all platforms. It's hard to come by these days.

Hope you find what you're looking for Torque.

From anyone it seems. That's good that you did that, it's certainly recognized, at least by some of us.

[QUOTE=A.Wilson013;2574662]I called this afternoon......QUOTE]

Thank You!! +Rep added!

That does really suck... doubly annoying as they were really great products, and very well made/fairly priced. - the original one I had was so good I felt a brand loyalty and wanted to stock with them.

In other news AirBedz have got back to me, the recommended models for our trucks are:

PPI-PV203C (Cheapest)
PPI-Pv203 (Middle range, internal pump from truck 12v) (Edit: Direct from their email, but I can't see this model, assume she meant PPi-v303??)
PPI-103 (Most expensive, internal pump with battery)

I'll give one of them a go and report back!

Ordered the PPI V303.. it turns out in this size it doesn't have the internal pump (good one less point of failure) although hopefully the fill port is larger than the one in that picture!

96.21 USD for shipping and import tax!

Concerns:

-It is listed as 73" long, our bed (Tailgate to the seat base) is nearer 68". That said the Truckbedz was listed at 72", and it squished in ok.
-it is listed as 12" high, which means there will be a gap between the mattress top and the arches which will leave the top bit unsuipported, which I will blatantly end up sleeping in when the G/F "consumes" 80% of all bed space.

It does come with a zip up case though... hopefully that will minimise the chance of it meeting a mouse related death.

Would love to see pics of this once you receive it and get it set up ... particularly in terms of fit.

Yeah if the fit is good then maybe we could convince someone to start a group Buy? I know I'm interested, and if my dog could read he'd definitely be interested too.
