3rd Gen Phone Mounting Solutions

I've realized that it's pretty difficult to have your phone an a good, accessible spot in a 3rd gen, so post your solutions on this thread to give people some good ideas!

Here's what I found works best: Buy a ProClip Center Mount and buy a magnetic mount , install the center mount and stick the magnetic mount on, and it works like magic.

Haven't gotten it yet, but planning to get the spigen or iOttie windshield mount and plan to place it about 10o'clock above the wheel.

Will follow up once I take it on a few trips

This works well for me. Vent magnet mount with a steel sheet in the case for the magnet to grab.

I installed a ram mount into the side of the center trim of the "waterfall" or whatever it's called.

Here is my setup. Exactly where I wanted it. Although I really want it to be magnetic and have wireless charging. But going offroad I wouldnt trust the magnetic one.

I use the iottie magnet vent mount. Works very well.

Nochoice Magnetic Car Mount Cell for Phones Big Angle Black (3 Magnets + 3 Balls)
[URL="https://www.amazon.com/Nochoice-Magnetic-Mount-Phones-Magnets/dp/B018TJUO7C/ref=sr_1_8?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1486305616&sr=1-8&keywords=magnetic+phone+holder"]

From Amazon - I've had them for a few weeks in all my vehicles. They work great! I have mine attached to far side of the console - passenger vent on the center console. Pics later.

Magnet on the phone case is approx. 3mm in depth 1/2" diameter, don't even notice.
Have no fear, magnet holds perfectly!

I use Steelie Ball similar to the nochoice. Has multiple different mounting accessories. Makes mounting and dismounting frustration free.

I went a custom route with additional accessories in mind for nave, communication. Replaced the double din factory radio with a single din radio and used the available mounting hardware for the radio to build a bracket and aluminum plate. To that I bolted a ram mount ball. I'm actually going to be adding another ball to it this week to mount a ham radio. Sorry for the links, phone post.

That's what I did. Except I mounted the ball on the cup holder pull out. And when I want I can pull it out closer to me and still use the cup holders.

I use this. It's inexpensive, it's small, it works and you can get it on Amazon with Prime for $15. It holds up my Zte Zmax Pro without any problems — which is bigger and heavier than an iPhone 7 plus. It's never fallen off since I've had it.

I have a clear case on my phone so you can see the magnet on the inside back of the phone. Obviously this would not be visible on normal cases. I personally don't care if it's visible. I've since trimmed off that little plastic protective thingy that you can see on the side between the magnet and the phone. Looks clean now.
