So Who's had To Replace Their Heater Control Valve?
I have been loosing coolant with no obvious signs of a leak. Finally found evidence beneath the heater control valve. Got it warmed up to pressurize the system and verify. Sure enough it had a steady drip from the drivers side of the valve. I barely touch it and the damn thing let go and blasted me in the face with coolant! I ran into the house to rinse the poison out of my eyes and realize how lucky I am this didn't happen in the heat of summer and burn me as well.

Normal on all these older 4runner's. I hit the yard and all had same issue. It was my first NON OEM part I installed. Another member said there non OEM lasted 2 years.

I have a brand new one sitting in a box. Ordered some hoses...threw it in...now I have it. Super easy to replace and not expensive.

Mine broke at 12,200ft at the top of Wheelers Lake. It was freezing, but some duck tape and not using the heater held her together till I got back home. Ass puckered entire trip.

That's normal.
Also, if you add another valve for the heater core return line, the AC is super cold. I already have this mod and it keeps the heater core cold during the summer months.
You can do your own research: After a drive with the AC on, touch the return hose from the heater core. It is very hot. Heat conducts so heat enters into the heater core even you have one line closed. This heat ruins the cold air.
