2000 T4R Radio Swap, need factory wiring diag.

I have gone over wiring diagrams on this and other forums(fora) and have yet to find a Toyota wiring diagram. I took the Pioneer DEH-X56HD out of my beloved (and wrecked) 1997 T4R and tried to put it in my 2000. As far as I can tell I have the speakers wired correctly, and the constant and ignition hot wires correct, BUT the radio won't come on until I start the engine. Only the right side speakers work. If I turn the headlights on, the radio stops. It's too late for an adapter cable because I cut the wires off at the back of the factory radio plug. I can't tell what's wrong because according to the wiring diagrams, I have found, it's wired correctly.
Does anyone have the factory wiring manual for a stock radio with a power antenna? Please?

These are from 2002 but I guarantee you there are no changes from your 2000:

That's quite a symptom set. I have diagnosed many an issue over the internet but that's a beaut. See what the diagrams show you. I recommend an all new fused constant power connection straight to the battery. Test your speaker connection with a 9V battery. If you get a click from where it is supposed to be, the speaker connection is good. Come back if you're still stuck. Take pics. We love pics.

Thank you The Durk, more questions.

Where is the antenna control relay? Back of the dash fuse box?
Which is the second antenna wire going to the radio, the smaller one and what do I with it?
Can the antenna control wires be soldered together so the antenna is always up? Which two wires?

My antenna is broken and the radio still works fine. Sounds like a pain to keep it in the up position all the time. Who still uses the radio anyways?
Read the FSM: 1996 to 2002 Toyota 4Runner OEM Repair and Wiring Manuals

Thank you, but wires don't match diagram

I have the speaker wiring on:
RR, red, white
LR, black, yellow
RF, light green, blue
LF, there is no pink wire, there is a pink/blue which the diagrams show going to the antenna control relay. right now I have it hooked to the LF speaker, none of the left speakers work.
I have a gray wire hooked up as the ign. hot wire.
I have a blue/black hooked up as the constant hot wire.
There is also a green wire and a black/red wire not used and still going into the plug that went into back of the stock radio.
Also a brown wire which should be ground
Pioneer told me that the blue/white wire coming out of the Pioneer plug is the hot wire for the amplifier and the antenna. ????????????????????????????????

You have left the stock amp in the circuit and are trying to connct your HU to it (the colors you describe match the ones inside the box on the bottom left--which is the harness between the Toyota HU and the Toyota amp.)

That will never work. You need to remove the stock amp and mate your HU to the plug going INTO the amp FROM the truck. The good news is that means your stock plug is still there so you can buy an adapter harness and stop futzing around.

Also, if you want an answer to a question, please QUOTE me or mention me. Otherwise I may never come back to the thread.

^ This. The stock amp threw me for a loop too when I replaced my radio. I had a wiring harness fro AZ that everyone said worked, but the plugs would not line up. A random review from Amazon when Googling the Part# set me straight.

P.S. don't match the 4Runner wire colors to the head unit colors, they are not a perfect match. Also, sometime between 98 and 02 Toyota changed the colors of quite a few wires, possibly including the stock head unit. Same function, just different color.

I guaranteed him the 2002 EWD was good for his 2000 because I compared the 2002 to the '99 EWD I have. They are identical. So the colors I posted are good for his 2000, too.

Oh I didn't mean what you had posted, though I didn't look in detail at the attachments. I meant in reference to the new head unit. Some people try and match color to color and end up messing it up royally, even blowing fuses and such.

I gave up

I finally gave up and took it to a local radio installer who put in an adapter harness and charged me $80. Thanks to all that responded.

Do you have the new link to these diagrams? I'm having issues with my yellow constant (memory) wire in my 2000 T4R aftermarket (previously working) stereo as well. No current coming through this wire.

I do not, and I've been looking for it. That was the only on-line source for factory EWDs, and we will miss it, if it's gone. It appears it is.

I found that site way back when NCTTORA took down their site, and it has served us well for years. RIP.

Every time I click on one of these links I now get sent to a 'Web Hosting' site...don't know if this is new or I got a virus or what.... you can download the entire FSM here: under 'Reference Guide' (FSM Zip File for Download) You'll find the schematic for the Antenna & Radio on pages 196-198. Hope this helps....

No virus--those links all died May 1. Somebody was supposed to migrate those files to a new site, and it appears that has not been done. Your solution is the best we have for now.

I have EWD .pdf's for .96, '97, '98, paper for '99, and that huge .pdf for 2002. '99 is almost the same as '00, and '01 and '02 are virtually identical (DRL only exception I know).
