Falken Wildpeak AT3W or BFG AT/KO2
I am going to get a set of LT265/75/16 tires
Falkens run $498 shipped
KO2s run $698 shipped.
Both are e load tires with nearly the same weights yet the falkens are 2 ply sidewalls and 6 ply treads vs 3 and 10 on the BFGs.
Tires expectations (in order of importance)
Smooth daily driver (60 miles/day)
Heavy snow
Weekend explorer (woods environment)
And no I won't consider duracraps....

Tire rack is the most expensive site I've checked. Everything doesn't seem terribly priced until the tack on nearly $200 shipping at checkout
Edit: they are $900 shipped for the KO2s

Ouch that's crazy. I just checked my receipt from TireRack and I paid the price you can get them for shipped. Maybe it's your location?

Can't speak to much to the BFGs as I haven't run them
I love my Falken's, smooth and quiet on road and perform well off-road. I've run them in both P and E rated flavors, and not a significant change in ride quality between the two. I noticed a slight increase in bodyroll, but I attribute that to the taller sidewall section on the 285s
Specs wise, the smaller sidewall ply count will lend itself more to a smoother on-road daily experience.

I have only had experience with the original bfg kos and they are a great tire. Im currently running the falkens on my 4runner and I have nothing to say but good things about them. They're very quiet and hook up awesomely on any surface ive had them on, (rock, sand, snow, dirt, and mud). I got mine from discount tire direct during one of their sales and paid 500 even out the door.

Well this sucks. I had a good reply with all the research I've done written about why I'm going with the Falkens and my two year old jumps on my daddybag and I deleted the post.
I'm okay no worries, but the Falkens won me over by looks, wet weather traction, price, and off road capability.
I think they are equal to or better than KO2s in those categories in my opinion.
Also, research more into the sidewall plys on the Falkens. I think they do it a bit differently.

Given your order of importance, I would go with the Falkens. Should be better in the snow (winter rated tire) and will probably be quieter on the road.
If you were going to be doing more off roading with rocks involved, I would go with the KO2's.
Your order of importance is almost exactly like mine which is why I'll be buying the Falkens soon.

My falkens are awesome. There great in deep snow too. Tooled around in 10-12 inches of snow for a week recently and they did outstanding. Good in a rain and quiet on the road.

I've run multiple sets of the old bfg kos and have a set of the falkens now. My falkens, 285/70/17, took quite a bit of weight to balance. They are quiet and I feel so better on wet pavement. I wasn't super impressed with them in the pack snow. I just moved the falkens to my 4Runner and put on cooper discoverer at3 on my tundra and I must say so far I feel the cooper is a better tire than both the falkens and bfgs. Just my opinion.

The Cooper was my other choice.
This link would be infinitely helpful if the at3/w and the KO2 would have been included. Still find it helpful though.
Notice what it says about the Falkens sidewalls:

Mine has a set of cooper at3s on the rear and I am less than impressed. Wet grass and bare, muddy surfaces seem to completely flummox my otherwise capable 4 runner.
What did you find getter about the coopers?

Either way they both look great and surprisingly similar when side by side

Mind you, I've had the coopers on less than a week, but in Seattle we get a lot of rain and I haven't experienced any hydroplaning nor spinnage from a stop. The falkens would always spin just a bit when leaving a stop in the wet and I could definitely feel the larger pools of water on the road. I'll be curious to see how the falkens do on my 4Runner, they're practically brand new with 17/32nds tread left.
