Sneaky Power Steering Lines

Thought I would share this for anyone who has to replace their power steering lines. All the videos I've watched so far has shown everyone loosen/partially remove the steering rack in order to get to/loosen the pressure, and return lines. I left work in a hurry, and did not grab my "large socket rail" so I figured I would try to remove the lines with some extensions, and a 17MM crow's foot. It worked out great! I put the truck up on jack stands, and turned the steering wheel all the way to the right to give me some room, and passed the crow's foot on a couple extensions below the (horribly rusted, and soon to be replaced) sway bar, and through the little opening in the frame, and steering rack. New lines going in tomorrow night, hopefully as easy as they came out.

I'm assuming you know this, but your sway bar bushing is shot too.

Good luck

Yep! Just got my poly kits in the mail tonight for sway bars front, and rear, and power steering rack. Going to do that stuff at work where I have a lift though. The lines leaked so bad it wouldnt make the commute without running out of fluid so I had to do those in the garage at home.

Thanks for sharing this cool information. Time to buy 14 and 17 mm crow's foots.

How did you get the new one threaded in? I can't see any place to get my fingers in there.
