Aisin water pumps?

Hey guys, doing my timing belt service in about two weeks on my 98 t4r limited. Everything I'm replacing including the front crank seal will be from Toyota, but I have a friend who recently purchased an Aisin water pump from rock auto to replace it on his truck, then traded his runner for another vehicle. He'll give me the pump for free instead of returning it. So my question is.... Does anyone have experience with using Aisin water pumps in their rigs? Seems like a waste to pass up a free water pump for my truck just because it doesn't have toyota part numbers on it.... then again, I see aftermarket pumps that come in leaking prematurely at work all the time.

Any info you guys could give would be great.

Thanks!

Aisin is the OEM provider for Toyota water pumps. What I like about the pumps is the nice gasket they use, which is a nice silicone infused metal gasket. Much better than paper used with tube silicone.

The AISIN supplied gasket also has the benefit in that it just peels right off in your next service. Technically you're not supposed to use anything else (RTV) with a paper gasket. RTV and paper gets messy when you try to remove it years later.
