MCM Fab 3.5" Long Travel Kit

MCM Fab 3.5” Long Travel Suspension Kit

This kit is not new to the market. George Otwell ran this kit for a couple years and has nothing but good things to say about it!

Pricing:

Sold here: https://www.srqfabrications.com/prod...vel-suspension

Base kit: $2400 with free shipping

4wd extended CV axles: $560 (modified Tundra axles)

Coilover options:

-8” 2.5 FOA w/ Viper coils (600lb) and resis $575

-8” 2.5 ADS w/ Eibach coils (600lb) and resis $1400

If you'd like a higher or lower spring rate, that is not a problem and can be ordered with the kit. Matt over at MCM Fab has just found that the 600lb springs are the best starting point for most people.

Included in kit:

Powdercoated Satin Black

MIG welded boxed and internally ribbed lower control arms

TIG welded DOM upper control arms with high quality FK Stainless Bearings

Limiting straps

Extended brake lines

Extension for tie rod ends

Kit includes all necessary hardware for install (bushings, sleeves, etc.)

Specifications:

3.5” wider track width per side

13” of wheel travel

4wd compatible

Reuses the stock LBJ

Install:

I’m a full time college student and currently live in an apartment complex about 5 minutes from school. I completed the install over 2 days and 25 hours of work in my apartment parking lot. If that isn’t a testament to how easy and well-designed this kit is, I don’t know what is. No fancy equipment or tools are needed to install this kit. Some 6 ton jacks stands, a hydraulic jack, and your normal tools will get the job done! Here are a few photos I took throughout the tear down and install.

Cutting the stock ball joint to be pressed out

Spindle ready for uniball adapter

The kit just dropped off by UPS

All laid out

Removing all the stock components

I’m sure my apartment complex loves me

The install

The uniball adapter uses the stock UBJ snap ring

Tie rod extensions (included in kit)

FOA coilovers

Driver side nearing completion

Passenger side completed and sitting on the ground. This was before the truck had even moved so not a great representation of current ride height. Don’t mind the zip ties holding the resis up, I have mounts waiting at home for me!

Finished product:

Thoughts so far:

I’ve had the kit for 2 weeks now and couldn’t be happier. Last weekend I drove 500 miles round trip in one day to check out the Yota Mafia meet in Atlanta. Mind you, this was less than a week after finishing the install and I didn’t have a single problem. I’ve only hit the trails once with the kit as I’ve been trying to get a few miles on it before I start testing its limits. Being that the 4runner is my DD, the miles are already racking up quickly. I should have over 1000 miles on the kit by the 2nd week in May. Next weekend I make a 350 miles trip home to visit my parents. While I’m down there I hope to have time to cycle the suspension and get some travel numbers. I also will be ordering hydro bumps, TC spindle gussets, and TC cam gussets. I have the coilovers set as low as I can and the front end still sits slighty higher than the rear. Since I am 2wd 2.7L I don't have much weight up front, with the being said I plan on getting some 500lb springs to swap out for the current 600lb springs. I really hope to dial in the kit over the coming months along with redo my rear end which is in need of a huge upgrade.

"Basically I ran MCM FAB long travel IFS for 4-5 years. I was on the cover of 4wd Toyota owners mag and had a full write up because of the SA rigs I was keeping up with and even out performing at times. I ran 38" super swampers, 529s, ARB'S and duel casses. The heavy duty Tundra axles worked out great for me. I was able to rally & rock crawl. Was really the best of both worlds!"

-George Otwell

A couple shots of George's Tacoma rocking this LT kit.

Why are there two different mounting points for the lower shock mount on the new lower control arms?

With long travel, a lot of the hardcore baja types will add a second shock up front. You add the hoop above the uca, and then add the shock to the hoop and second mounting position I believe.

The other mount can be used for a second shock or limit straps.

Here's a few photos of this kit in action! Around 4,000 miles on the kit and haven't had a single issue.

Question I'm looking at mcm fab long travel kit and also looking at total chaos fab long travel kit as well I know total chaos don't come with coil overs or tundra CVS or rack spacers.. what is everyone's take on mcm long travel vs total chaos fab long travel there both 3.5 inch I did notice that total chaos for our 3rd gen rigs also has a adjustable upper and lower and panhard bar kit for the rear... Is there pluses and minuses to both brands or kits?

Mcm actually had a few more extra options on there site are a little bit cheaper on some things over Srq Fabrication I'm kinda torn between mcm fab and total chaos fab for there long travel kits I keep looking more at total chaos because they also have adjustable rear upper and lower control arms as
as the panhard bar is adjustable thought between both these brands and pluses and minuses would be amazing issues or problems with either kits or brands I know total chaos don't come with cvs or rack spacers or coil overs couldn't find adjustable rear upper and lower control arms or panhard bar with mcm fab

Mcm fab website below hope it helps others

I made a thread a while ago doing a very light comparison of all the available LT kits on the market for 3rd gen T4r’s. Just good to see all the options out there. Not sure if it will be helpful to you or not but figured I’d post the link for you..
