Strut replacement for road/hwy

Hi,

Newbie here. I have spent a few days reading up on the topic of strut replacement but haven't found a concise answer to what I need. I have a new to me 2000 with 235K miles. I'd take a wild guess that its got the original shocks and struts in it. Every bump you hit feels like it's square and there is some odd jumpy steering issues.

So after reading I have decided on the Bilstein 4600's. I am budget constrained so I don't think I'm replacing springs unless somebody knows of a good affordable stock replacement. Stock height is fine.

so what parts do I need to go with the Bilsteins or do I re-use all the strut hardware?

Should I replace the easily replaced bushings while I am in there? Got a link to the exact parts I need?

Thanks,
Jason

I'm in the same boat. Got a 2000 limited 4runner and decided to get Moog tall springs (cheapest springs you can probably get) and Bilstein 5100's. Total cost for springs and shocks/struts should be around $400.

Are the Bilstein shocks giving a good ride on the highway? Or are they a little too firm?

If you like a car like front suspension, try to find 2000 Tacoma 4x4 front progressive springs . I got the front pair from 00 Taco and the ride on and off road is amazing!
It is coming with Bilstein shocks.

I have a 99 4x4 with arb bumper and i went with bilstein tundra 5100 all around, and tundra oem trd springs up front and 4runner ome 906 springs in the rear with 20mm trim packer ds and 10mm on ps rear.

Very pleased with the ride, i drive 95 highway. Cleveland ghetto was a bit rough, otherwise i like it for the price, lift it does float on the highway, with the heim joint sway bar links at all four corners it still comfortably rips through tight corners.

The heim joints were the total package. i dont have wheel spacers. I ride on 17inch 2016 4runner rims n tires. I researched the speedy lift and watched a video on you tube that was straightforward.

I did monroe on all four corners from rock auto for 40k miles. Total waste of money. Even at the low price 0f 200$.

I'll be interested to hear the results of this thread as well.

I have a daily 50 mile commute (both ways combined) and while most of it is reasonably smooth freeway several miles of it is serious inner-city streets (my neighborhood) and I am about to replace the back shocks with KYB 565002's, but the fronts, while the previous owner said they were relatively new, are suspect... I am NEVER going to off-road in any sort of serious non-dirt-road-near-a-lake situation....

I will be replacing my 01 suspension. They're still in great condition. No leanimg around corners and the springs don't sag.

Just replacing to out a lift on.
