Cable for Heater Control Valve

Has anyone replaced one of these? I'm not sure how this is supposed to fit securely without coming apart like mine did. Have the new part about n order, hopefully it will be here in a few days.

I have, and you'll see when you get it- it's supposed to have a hook on it.

So the cable came in today and I'm having a problem figuring how to get the cable end to release. I don't want to break the damn thing.

Cable for Heater Control Valve

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Spread the two inner prongs away from the cable end, and slide it out- I believe "out" would be down in the pic.
"Away" being apart from each other.

I know, they're pretty rigid. Unfortunately, they're also probably not hard to break. It's not a super easy task Cable for Heater Control Valve

Lacking patients

Well I got the cable to release. Now I can't get the head of the cable through the small space. Tempted to just cut the cable head off, but will have the same problem installing the new one. Did you have the same problem? If I could find a way to get this switch part off, it would be no problem.

Yeah, the fan switch slides off. I can't remember how, but it's not too tough to get off. Took a little while looking at it from all angles, but I think it has a release, and will then slide off?

Almost there

Got that off and the cable through the fire wall. When hoocking back up does the hook go on top or bottom?

Heaters not hot

So got everything back together. Figured I would get one of those spill free funnels to burp the system. Scangague is showing 198 degrees, heater is all the way to the red and on high. The air is coming out warm and not hot. I've had it idling for 40 minutes now. What else can I do??
