What size tires would look good on stock height? Are spacers necessary when you run these wheels?

285/70R17's - Hankook Dynapro MTR's. These tires are amazing at everything. Rocks, loose dirt, mud, rain & snow.

I don’t want to be this noob but are spacers necessary when running a lift with 285/70/17 tires? I’m about to put on the SS 1.2 lift and now am concerned about rubbing. I am putting on SPC upper control arms as well and they appear to have less material near the ball joint to contact the tire. I do not want to run wheel spacers if I don’t have to. .

I’d like to know the answer to this too. I’m thinking of picking up some of these wheels to open up some tire options on my 2000 4Runner. I have an older version of the SS 1 lift (I think that’s the one) and currently run 265/75/16. I’d be looking at roughly the same overall wheel size in a 17, nothing like the 315s some people are running.

Sweet! There's a number of these wheels on CL in AZ right now, some with tires and some without. Are you putting these on a 3rd gen? Do you know if they require spacers? I can't find a definitive answer.

Yes, with 285/70/17 on trail wheels you will need spacers. And you will rub your front bumper and firewall.

Thanks, I'd like to avoid that. I only plan on running something like a 265/70/17 but I don't want the possibility of rubbing or a tucked in the wheel well look. I need to figure out which models and years have 17" wheels with the same backspacing as my stock 2000 4Runner wheels. It sounds like FJ and Sequoia wheels fit the bill but I am not 100%

The 5th gen wheels, along with the Tundra/Sequoia and FJ wheels all fit perfect with 265/70-17 tires, assuming your alignment is correct. Some of the later ('05+) Tacoma wheels require spacers to work and/or look good.

Make sure you have caster near the max range (3* or so) and everything will clear 100%. The next step up in tire size (285's) is where trouble starts.
