Make sure you have caster near the max range (3* or so) and everything will clear 100%. The next step up in tire size (285's) is where trouble starts.

Thanks! I was looking at these wheels as an option, I think they may be 5th gen (up to 2017 4Runner models correct?). I feel like some people have said these wheels have a different backspacing though. I'd hate to buy a set, mount them up, and then realize I made a mistake.

I am about to purchase some of the 5th gen TRD wheels which look just like the trail wheels with the recessed areas painted black. Any idea if my stock lugnuts from my 2000 4Runner will work with these or will I also need to purchase new lugnuts?

Thanks

@ConQueso are you running any spacers? I want to run a 3" lift with TRD 17" wheels on 255s but am wondering if I need spacers or not. I'm trying to avoid spacers but want a 33" tire.

Thumbs up

Question to you all! My 97 4runner has stock wheels 265/70/16. I just bought some trail wheels myself but i wanted to keep the stock height of the car. Would I need any spacers or do i need a lift of any sort or leveling kit to install some tires and ride comfortably with some all terrains? If so, what tire sizes would I be looking for that wouldn't cause me to add any sapcers, lift, ect.? All feedback would be appreciated!

Looks like you can get a BFG KO2 in 265/65-17, which would put you at the same rolling diameter as the stock tires. You can also do the minor upgrade to 265-70-17, which still should clear everything with no changes.

If you do get rubbing with the slightly larger tires, you can fix it with a decent alignment (the tech will need to move the caster to the max end of the allowable range).

Spacers are not needed unless you really go up in tire size (along with plenty of other clearancing).

Trail Wheels on '97 Limited

Looking to mount these on a '97 4runner limited with ~1.5" lift. Tire size 265/70/17. The stock rims are ET15 w/ 4.5" BS. Curious to know if anyone has the Offset/backspace specs for the trail wheels. I believe the offset is 15mm.

My research shows offset of +15. I’m not sure what that does for you, but that’s what I found.
