How to Repair Crack in Exhaust by Rear O2 Sensor

Hello all.

I have a crack in my exhaust that is directly against my rear O2 Sensor. I am currently out of town traveling and was hoping someone had a quick fix idea that will at least give me some time to get home and explore more permanent solutions. It currently is starting to sound like a battle tank going down the road. Thanks!

Yeah, sorry. Meant to put a question mark and forgot.

@JayRolla I'll look into that. Thanks.

If you don't have access to a welder to seal it up real quick, then JB weld should get you by until you get home and can have someone weld it up.

I used JB Weld on the muffler on an old 83 Fox body once and it caught on fire, so I don't know about that.

Probably just go to a muffler shop or something and have em slop it up for you.

JB weld will burn this close to the engine.

What I would try for a cheap and very quick fix is to pack a good thickness of crumpled aluminium paper all over the crack pretty tight, and tighten it with a hose clamp, with the hose clamp being directly over the crack and aluminium paper... since it's after the cat the pressure is pretty low there, could work until you'Re back home.

How to Repair Crack in Exhaust by Rear O2 Sensor

That O2 mount doesn't look in the best of shape. It may be time for a new pipe and muffler. This is my napa cat back. It had around 10,000 miles on it before the 96 got T Boned. Then the 96 sat for 3 years till I found something needing a engine. Still hasn't rusted yet and I ran the engine every few months until I found my 97

I ended up throwing some "Exhaust System Joint and Crack Sealer" that I picked up from O'Reilly's for under $5. I put in on their fairly liberally and though I've only driven it about 100 miles since, it's done the trick. I don't expect it to last all that long, but it's getting it done for now.
