Any idea if the fuel pump and sending unit is the same as the front tank of the F150? The new tanks don't come with that stuff and the salvage yards that I've been to drill holes in the tanks to drain fluids. Might as well buy new parts if I can to make things easier. Probably going to go for this project soon since I have to replace my tank anyways and it will probably cost near the same amount for a new tank but with way more benefits.

I think the filler might be at the back of the driver's side of the tank, though... :/

Here's the filler hole

I bet it's the same dimensions as the later aux tank - just with different sized orifices, perhaps, for carb use... It would make sense to re-use the stampings if the distance between the framerails remained consistent over the years...

Fuel Tank Relocation

For people reading this- I BELIEVE it's necessary to have an aftermarket bumper with the F150 aux tank. The way the stock bumper bolts to the body, the brackets protrude into the area the tank has to sit.
Its also more difficult in an '01/02(of course), as the EVAP shit is in the spare tire area-

Another hurdle- of many- is the tailpipe routing. I just did a turndown for[what] now, but the emission testing here requires a tailpipe to extend to- at least- rearward of the axle.

I've thought about adding the f-150 tank more then a few times. My plan was to keep the factory tank and use it as an aux tank, greatly extending my range. I nixed that idea and went with Rotopax instead. lol

Now I'm wondering if you do the delete and replace it with the F-150 tank will you have passenger side lean? Lot'ts of us are running springs that compensate for drivers side lean by having a taller driver side spring. Take the weight and center it and you'll be leaning to the right. lol

My buddy has done quite a few F150 tanks in Toyotas, and he said there is a model that came with an EFI 351.
I wish I had more info on it, but that's really all I know. The tank I have is from a diesel, so it has no fuel pump. I just got it for mock-up, and plan on sourcing a used tank with the pump from an EFI rig. I could just get the drop-in pump/sender, but they are honestly more than I will have to spend to source the whole tank with the pump already in it.
Actually, I did do the F150 tank in my buddy's custom cab-

Depending on what springs you're running, probably. I would imagine it would lean if you have corrected the driver lean.
But honestly, this tank is a pretty custom swap, and requires quite a bit of various fabrication. Adding trim packers would be the easiest part of the swap, by a long shot I would say.

A fuel injection tank typically has the fuel pump in it whereas a Carb typically has a mechanical pump on the engine. A fuel injection pump pushes the fuel, usually somewhere from 45-65 PSI. A carb fuel pump is 4-7 PSI. A fuel injection tank will typically have a return line depending on the fuel injection setup. Carb engines typically do not. Hope this helps.

Definitely helps. Wasn't too sure what the differences were. Thanks!

Now to figure out if the one on the link I posted is actually for a Carb only model of if that is just the generic model and just has "carburetor" because it's generic. I might try to see if my brother can pick one up for me to see if it will work. Never messed with gas tanks before. How could I tell if it is made for carb or EFI just by looking at it?

The tank I used on the CC above has a feed and return line on the top of the drop-in pump unit. It's 2RZ swapped, so it's a FI engine.
I believe the carb model would just be a feed line, and a sender unit. Both tanks will have a vent, but don't confuse that with the feed or return lines. The vent is in the center of the top of the tank.

I'm going to see if my brother can order one for me to check. If it's wrong, I'll just return it.
