This rack could easily mount random things like that, I put my Yakima ski racks on mine in the winter. (Same cross bar setup as my old custom rack). So, in theory, a basket can be mounted easily. Or with some straps, everything is held down properly and safely. My buddy ran Maxtrax on his rack all week with one ratchet strap and had zero issues.

The side pieces do go pretty far back, but the rearmost crossbar is about 6 inches forward of that so ladders should fit with no issue with the hatch raised

Can you post up some detail pictures of the mounting points? I'm especially interested to see how it hangs over the front of the roof. Where is it supported?
How much does the whole kit weigh?

Also, dimensions? Width and length?
This is the first full-length rack that I have seen that I like... It is also very cool that is can be shipped un-assembled (yay cost savings!).

Looks great Alex! I'd definitely consider switching from my WMW rack to something like this if I ever went to a RTT. Seems like it would be easier to mount a RTT to a flat rack like this.

We are using adjustable feet up front and very beefy mounts for the rear end. The weakest point is going to be the actual track in the roof (unavoidable unless you want to drill holes in your roof). The rack itself comes in around 50lbs fully assembled.
