Share your 3rd gen fire extinguisher mounting location.

Got pics?

What hardware did you use?

Why there?

How is it holding up?

What extinguisher did you go with?

Cheers!

I did come across this much older thead:
Where to mount fire extinguisher in 3rd gen?

There are some good ideas there. I recently picked up a 2.5 Amerex B/C class and I think I want to mount it within reach, probably in passenger area at base of seat, or next to the shifters. I am curious to see what people used to mount them, did they drill into the body, or plastic trim, and did they fab any backing plates for stability?

Tried to post pics but bad service where I'm working right now.... have 2, 5lbs mounted on my 1st Gen Roll Bar. Stock mounting holes in the roll bar. Just need about an 3 inch extension plate to mount. Rock solid.

Pics are in my build thread, in my signature.

Here you go... Fire Extinguisher Mount

Tons of info and pics in the build.

Perfect spot. I love it. I also use the clamps on the bracket for my external Ham Radio speaker as well. Pretty awesome since I don't have to drill any holes in my A-Pillar or rig it up high by the visor. Seat is fully adjustable fore and aft. Here's two pics of the speaker...

When it comes to a fire extinguisher, you have to think practical. This is where the "what if" scenario comes to mind. Quick access is what I went for and the dead space in front of my seat is now being used.

Now to re-locate my limb risers so I can open my hood without having to disconnect them. That's one of the questions @Bandit Runner asked me.

Nice. Makes me want a roll bar, lol. I think I will end up getting a 5 lb extinguisher for the rear at some point, but first things first.

Mike, I should have known you would have had a comprehensive write up in your build thread. That will probably be the location that I go with for sure. It is not taking up much usable floor space either. I have another project set out before me.

Mine's in the cargo area cubby hole, nothing fancy. The two stock straps are holding it in.

My Brazilian HiLux SW4 has it under the front of the driver's seat. It came new from the dealer that way. Fire extinguishers and first-aid kits are required by law in Brazil.

I did find this on Brazilian Google:

Obviously, this is passenger side. I don't remember now which side it was on.

I also learned that fire extinguishers are no longer required in Brazil as of 2015 for non-commercial vehicles. It seems somebody figured out cars don't catch fire as much as when half the cars were air-cooled VW bugs in tropical heat.

Um, we're gonna need to see more pictures of the other things you've done. Looks like some interesting stuff going on around that extinguisher.

Mounted on front of passenger seat. Can't even see it from drivers seat and not in the way at all when sitting in passenger seat. Doesn't move at all. Kind of a pain to feed the straps around the limited seat front but totally worth it. No permanent modification needed. Those wall mounts aren't going to hold during a wreck. This mount is made for automotive applications and very strong.

H3R extinguisher 2.5lb
BadAss moto gear roll bar mount.

Super happy with this setup. The extinguisher was a little pricey at $75 but it's high quality and refillable and not red.

When you get permission to make a post, it'll be nice one. Good work on that.

Here: Holding up great and not rattles even with hard wheeling. Mounted to the ceiling rack I made to get it up off the floor and make it visible and easy to grab without pawing through a bunch of crap.
