Yeah...it's another millennium silver 3rd gen build

Time to start a build thread for mine.

Mainly for my own documentation purposes but also as an inspiration for others starting out as first time Toyota owners.
Now that I have owned it for a year, time to go through the run down.

I bought the most basic and common 3rd gen on the road.
Millennium silver SR5 with chrome trim.

2001 3.4/4x4/AT 1-owner, 136,000 trade in at the Toyota dealer.
After looking for several months and driving over 300 miles in opposite directions, I found in my hometown that got traded in Saturday night, I looked at it Sunday night when they were closed, and came on Monday and bought it.
Original Cali truck that is about to see its first real winter.

Maintenance items I've done
Oem radiator
Oem timing belt
Oem water pump
Oem upper & lower rad hoses
Oem thermostat
Oem drive belts
Oem LBJs
AFE air filter
Extended rear diff breather mod.
Redline Syn in front and rear diffs
Transmission pan drop and refill with Toyota T-IV
Painted the undercarriage with Dupli-Color Bed Armor
Suspension :
First i installed 99 tall coils and all 4 corners. The rears sagged worse than the 01s so I installed 1.5" daystar spacers as well.
That setup only lasted so long.
Now I am running Bilstein 6112 fronts set at the (6/7) position and OME nitrocharger rear shocks with 890 coils.

265/75/16 Falken AT3/Ws. Terrible tires
I will not run a set of Falkens again.
They will not balance out after 4 tries including using road force balancing with the Toyota adaptor.

I built a rear set of drawers that I'm pretty happy with.
Full recovery gear set in ARB bag

Future mods- waiting to install- mainly laziness, I know

Ordered Baja utility rack (eta: 4 weeks out)
4 PIAA LP550s leds light on the Baja rack
B&M transcooler with Derale e fan
Spidertrax 1.25" wheels spacers: I won't install until I can get the wheel balance issue situated.
PTM satoshi grille mod.
Fluid Film undercarriage
Rear window accessory mount

Yeah...it's another millennium silver 3rd gen build

Future plans. Not already in the works.

Pull running boards, have rocker panels sprayed in PTM millennium silver Line-X.
Install shrockworks sliders.

Pending an upcoming medical diagnosis for a seizure I had during work, I won't be allowed to drive for 6 months so I will be most likely packing it away and storing it over winter but who knows at this point. I'm still pretty down that it looks like I won't be driving and will miss a lot of overlanding trips I wanted to attend

Looks good so far. The best color in my opinion. Hope everything works out health wise.

Amazing color! You sure it's not an '02? I ask because your cloth seats were only available on the Sport models in '01, but became standard in '02. Or maybe they were still an option in '01?

I have these same seats in my 2001 SR5. I think most sports got the "mesh" type of seats, but not all of them, like BFAD has the same seats as me and OP in his 01 Sport.

Clean looking 4Runner. I am a big fan of millennium silver runners, but, I am partial. Keep up the good work.

Very nice, I swear I was reading my own build thread for a minute. Very similar path of mods. Drawers look nice, I need to build a set too..

Is balancing the only issue with the Falkens? How do they do in the rain ?

Interesting. My best guess is that it was an optional upgrade. Every '01 Sport I've seen has these seats and every '01 SR5/Limited with cloth has the standard cloth seats.

Tangent, but I really want the '02 cloth seats!

I am not impressed with their performance. Rain is fine like most other All terrains. I don't see how they have the snowflake emblem though...Traction in the sand was poor: aired down to 15psi, locked in 4L. I can't look past the balancing issues I am Driving 75 miles a day and the shaking is beyond annoying.

My "must do list" before the New England winter sets in
1. Power wash undercarriage.
1. A: undercoat any bare spots I missed earlier
1. B: fluid film entire undercarriage, instead body panels, etc. hopefully the case of 10 I ordered is enough
2. Install trans cooler and fan
3. Install satoshi grille
Install Baja utility rack and wire PIAAs.
4. Continue to fight with Toyota dealer and/or Falken to get the tire balance figured out.
I'm trusting you guys to golf me to this lol.

Last Friday I had a seizure at work and was unaware it even happened until I woke up in the emergency room and they informed me I had been unconscious for several hours.
Part of the protocol is I'm restricted from driving for 6 months.
I'm debating on winterizing the 4 runner and parking it through winter with a cover to save it from seeing any salt. My other option to prep it for winter and park my wife's Malibu to keep the miles off it since it has the payments. Decisions, decisions

You ever thought of trying those balancing beads you put in through the valve stem? I've heard good things about them

It has crossed my mind but I don't know enough about them to see if they are beneficial. They are mainly for people who have nice wheels and don't want want to look at wheel weights correct?
