HELP!! sound from front of car when accelerating in drive !!!

help!!! I have started hearing some kind of metal rattling/rotational/valve train like noise when accelerating. It only happens when in drive. I tried revving in park and neutral: nothing. Even tried reverse: nothing. Only when in drive and accelerating. When I left off throttle and start to coast, the sound goes away. ONLY when foot on gas when in drive gear. I have no idea what it is and can't really check since I have to be driving for the sound to be on.

Have any of you had this sound before and how did u fix it?

If it helps, I recently put on a lift 2-3 days before the sound came, and also put 33" tires. I have the 33s on before the lift for a short period of time and dont remember hearing that sound...

Does it happen a lot when you're going up a hill/incline at the right speed? Does it sound like something rattling around in a can almost?

Jack the rear axle up and put in drive then see if you can hear it to pin point it.

somewhat sounds like that..kinda sounds like a shattered gear or something but definitely not it. the sound is very very faint. u have to turn of heater and radio and have windows closed. even hard to hear over my mud terrains.

at first I thought it was just the typical engine noise of my old 3rd gen. kinda like it revving up when going up a hill but this noise is different. sounds more like something rattling around somewhere and then when I give it more gas then I start to hear the engine rev up more.

even at low speed when I'm giving a little acceleration to start, the sound comes on.... some people are saying it could be driveline play. maybe U joints?

I would do that thing the other guy did and jack the car up and hit the gas and see if its the suspension, etc., but if that doesn't work, I would honestly check the fan assembly and the belts/pulleys/tensioners.

Make sure the drive shafts are greased and check the tin heat shields under the car as well.

OF COURSE..

I wake up the next mornin, warm up the car as usual, start driving and trying to listen to the sound: no sound when cold so I wait... after on highway for 10 minutes I exit and try to listen again, still no sound... I don't know if I should be annoyed that I can no longer hear it or happy that it fixed itself. Either way, I still got my fittings greased on the driveline. Someone on the Facebook groups told me my U-joints could be going out so I did so. but no sound right now so ... I'll update once it comes back.
