Well I FINALLY got the ignition cylinder out of it’s Home... because the cylinder was all drilled out a portion at the top was holding it in... it only took me a couple hours over a course of a couple days to figure it out! Holy moly that was a test of patience. Lots of swear words, drinking beer & a little blood when I slipped & cut my hand! I drilled the crap out of this thing & in the end a little piece at the top just needed to be pushed it because it was getting hung up... it was pulling out but then just stopped...anyways, the New one is in... but I’m only 1/2 way done as I need to figure out how to program the transponder keys... until then I can start the truck with the broken end of the old key on the transponder ring & turning the new key. Not a permanent solution but I’m just glad I was able to get the new cylinder in there...

The last picture shows the gray little button that needed to be pushed in to release the drilled out ignition cylinder..

Once upon a time, @JerkyDrewster got a CBI bumper. His order finally came after a long wait & upon installation, something wasn’t quite right. Drew realized he got a bumper that had a body lift option on accident. Whoops! Sean got a killer deal on a CBI bumper but would be forced to add a 1” body Lift to his new to him black 2000 limited 4runner build. Drew’s correct bumper would arrive correctly & everyone would live happily ever after. The end.

Why not just do that 1" body lift and get 33s while he is at it.

When are you going to be installing the bumper? I received mine on Saturday and installed in yesterday! I had to re-locate the shock reservoirs a little more forward, but everything else worked well.

He already has 33’s & not everyone wants a body lift... including him...

It is going to be a pain looking at my front bumper gap for a while & I’m sure he is on the same page with having to alter his front bumper to NOT have an ugly bumper gap after the body lift

You pretty much summed it up! I don't see the need or even want to have a BL. Dealing with the bumper gap would also not be as fun. It wouldn't be too hard to modify the mounts, but I would have to make sure i could still use the winch without damaging anything.

Have fun with Tim and the suspension install! Let me know if you need any help and I'd be happy to head over!

Well shucks... too bad we weren't closer. We could've just swapped! LOL I need a new rear bumper with a body lift modification.

I don't know if this will help you out, as you have the same transponder, but a different cylinder. I thought that it might be of some use to your situation though.

Thanks for this!!!... I actually started a thread with these instructions a couple years ago with this procedure. It only occurred to me recently that I should try that first!

I actually followed Andy’s lead. Is this you @sleepydad ?

https://youtu.be/aW5FmIQCk5A

He has a pretty complete video on taking apart the seats. Once you take apart one you understand where all the hog ties are that you need to cut if you want to remove the the leather itself from the foam.

I didn’t order new foam. Instead, I swapped the foam from passenger to drivers side.

I completely understand that, if you already have existing bumpers or whatnot without a BL, would be an eyesore. Are there other reasons for not wanting a BL other than looks?

Since I already have a suspension lift that provides the clearance I want, there is no need to add another thing to raise the body. The BL would increase the COG and body roll on top of what the suspension lift already has, which is not desirable for me.

I had a HUGE WIN today..

I was buttoning the dash back up & FINALLY got the new keys to be programmed with my ECU...

I’m not going to lie, it took a couple attempts... I was waiting for the red security button to stop flashing for way longer than the time I waited when I did this to my other build...

On my other rig, the red security light stopped flashing after only 20 seconds (instructions state it could take up to 2 minutes!) but finally after ~ 60 seconds the light stopped blinking, I removed the key & finished the sequence with pressing down on the gas peddle.

I confirmed that it worked by starting the truck & then programmed the second key, & this time I was a little more patient waiting for the red light to stop blinking. STOKED!!!

But I celebrated a little too early because my attempts to program the key fobbed failed miserably!!! I actually got it into programming mode on the very first try but somehow the FOB didn’t program!!! I tried a bunch more times with no success to get it back into programming mode so sad times... I was confused because I got it into programming mode the first attempt but couldn’t get it after that... I even attempted on my 2002 which I had successfully programmed in the past & I couldn’t get it to bite either... I gave up & went inside to try it again sometime in the future. The biggest pain in the butt about this is the locks get tired & then don’t even move! The lock solenoid gets tired & then none of the locks go up or down. Fricken sucks.

@infamousRNR @slimboiphat

Yep that me

I tried to find good used foam, it was tough because your not the only person out there looking 4 it. if you can find new foam it's expensive. slimboiphat if you have any questions just PM me, it's been a bit but the video is crazy long and I'm not Steven Spielberg so... potato quality.

if somebody would offer foam at a decent price I would guess they could sell a lot of it.
