Poor Defroster Performance

my rear defroster doesn't work well. it just barely clears around the grids. any ideas?

Try pulling the connector apart and cleaning the contacts with some steel wool or a wirebrush. Often corrosion build up prevents full current from getting to the elements. HTH.

That means I would have to take the hatch apart. The window rolls down so I am guessing the contacts are on the bottom of the glass.

I'll take a look at mine this weekend. I figure it's got to be pretty easy to pop that panel off. We'll figure it out.

I Love L.A.

The beauty of living in Los Angeles is that I have owned my 4Runner for over a year now and have yet to use the rear defroster. After reading that the SR5 has heated mirrors when the defroster is on I almost want to go somewhere cold to check it out... but not in sunny L.A.

good luck with fixing it though.

I could have really used heated mirrors this morning. They were all covered with condensation. After wiping them they just haze up again. My '98 Limited apparently doesn't have them. Apparently Limited means Limited amount of features. No automatic headlights, no power tilt on the front part of the seat just the rear, no heated seats, no heated mirrors, no climate control, no usuable cupholders lol. I know much of this was corrected on the 99+ but for a Limited model i think it should have more features, not just leather and a diffenet clor steering wheel and chromatic mirror.
